Dr. Michael Dean Darnell, DO

Dr Darnell took very good care of me. I was on a mini vacation, & fell & broke my ankle badly. I met him & instantly knew he was the guy to fix me up. So I didn't head back to the valley, I stayed there in the Payson hospital. So happy he was there. Now it's 7 months later, after having done p/t, I'm still healing, but I'm pretty much back to normal.

I really appreciated that Dr Darnell could fix me up last March. He was awesome! Broke my ankle on a Tuesday, & he operated on me the next day. He prescribed a cocktail of meds (for nerve support) that helped a lot. I missed getting to see him for my after care, but I understand he is a very busy guy. I highly recommend him !

Arrogant and uncaring.

Don't get a shoulder replacement from this guy. Messed me up big time!

Total knee replacement. Gave me great instruction on pre-op preparation. The only Doc that told me the stronger your legs are the better the result. I had bone on bone in my knee and he told me to work it more and it would help with the pain and it worked before the op and more after. Up and walking without assistance in 3 days. No pain in the joint. Normal swelling problems but easy recovery. This guy will be the best if you take responsibility and participate in your own health.

He did a partial replacement on my left shoulder. It feels much worse and is much less effective than it was before I had surgery. Looking back, I followed his post-op instructions to the letter. Long story short... he managed to make my shoulder worse than it was !

I was referred to Dr Darnell by my Family Doctor. My first visit was very satisfactory. I brought my MRI but Doctor wanted an xray by his staff. After the in-house xray he informed me I had torn 2 muscle off my rotator cuff. His office scheduled an operation at the hospital for later that week. Operation went well and I returned to his office for follow up. He prescribed physical therapy and followed up 3 times while undergoing PT. Dr Darnell educated me on the physiology and rehab along the way and I am very happy with his skill and pleasant manner.

Dr. Darnell butchered my bone and left me in never ending sharp pains,grinding for every movement.My daily routines are FOREVER under a magnifying glass for the rest of my life for fear of future internal damage.I am truly disappointed as I thought during treatment that he truly cared about my future since his character is warm and inviting when you first meet him.I'm convinced he may not have really known how to fix me in the first place but then again that's why it's called a "medical PRACTICE".

I saw this Doctor for a second opinion on a tibial plateau fracture. Doctor never introduced himself or verified my name. He is the most arrogant physician that I have ever met. He was very condescending and did absolutely no patient education. He did a very cursory exam and didn't even touch either of my legs. This was so different than the friendly,caring, and thorough exam that I received from the first Doctor that it was an easy decision which Doctor to stay with. I will never return to this Doctor for anything.

Dr. Darnell performed a complete reconstruction of my acl ten days ago. I can walk, pain free without the aid of crutches or a brace. My range of motion is exceptional for this short of a time period. I cannot see how any surgeon could have done a better job. I would highly recommend Dr. Darnell to anyone who needs this proceedure.
