Dr. Michael Angelo Devito, MD

I had been referred to this doctor as a teenager who had recurring tonsillitis and other throat infections multiple times a year hoping to get a tonsillectomy. I was told by him that he would remove my tonsils and he even went as far as scheduling me for the procedure only to cancel it shortly before, stating that due to the fact that I was previously diagnosed with anxiety, I was somehow making it up and looking for an excuse to get out of school. Now, years later, I went to a different ent who performed the tonsillectomy. They were horrified by the way that I was treated and could not believe that I had not had my tonsils taken out sooner. I have not had a single throat infection since.

Dr. DeVito is an excellent ENT. My son went to him and got results and his problem solved and was free of pain. My son is 18, and said with a smile after the appointment, “I love that guy. He’s hilarious.” My son is not always easy to please either. Dr. D gets right to the point which our family prefers. Coincidently, Dr. Devito did our son’s ear tubes when he was an infant. Great doctor so many years ago and still great. The AMC location in North Greenbush is super convenient too!

Should not be practicing medicine

This doctor just handed me my cat scan results and told me to come back when I have symptoms for surgery. I asked what the odds were I would have symptoms and he rudely told me he doesn't have a crystal ball and didn't tell me anything about my conditions that may need surgery down the line. It was a 2 minute visit.

Very arrogant!! He acted like I was bothering him when I asked a question. It was a waste of my time. I will never go back there.

I agree with the other reviews, they're right on. My PCP arranged for my appointment with Dr. DeVito. I found his manner almost comical because I had been made aware of his reputation beforehand. Having never been to an ENT before I would have been really freaked out if not for a conversation I had with my brother, who is a PA, before my appointment. My brother told me everything that would likely be done during the ENT appointment, which includes having some kind of numbing agent (very offensive smell/taste to it) sprayed up my nose and then a tube/scope put up my nose and down my throat....Dr. DeVito did all of this without telling me anything about what he was doing, or why, which would have been very disconcerting if I didn't already have the low down from my brother. In reading some of the other reviews I cannot even imagine bringing a small child to him!

Rude, arrogant, and dismissive

I have been going to Dr. DeVito, for 1 yr. I had a problem with loss of hearing in my left ear. He tried everything to solve my problem. He sent me for an MRI to see if there was a problem maybe in the the brain. MRI came back that I had a mini stroke. The stroke didn't cause my problem but if it wasn't for him sending me for the MRI, I would have never known I had a mini stroke. He placed a hole in my ear drum to see if fluid was in my ear. He told me maybe it could be Mineres Disease and told me to try a low sodium diet. After he placed hole in the ear drum, there wasn't fluid in the ear. After almost a year of me loosing alot of my hearing...he did a small surgery to paper patch my ear drum. As of today the patch has lifted and hearing alot better. What I can tell you out there is...he was a very good doctor and tried everything to restore hearing my hearing loss. We don't know why it happened but...he never gave up on trying. I would recommend him to anyone. Linda F.

Dr. DeVito is rude, arrogant, and lacks compassion. He has absolutely no interest in helping patients, and treats appointments as if he is insulted that you dare take up his time with your concerns.
