Dr. Michael Hammer

My young son, who has a form of epilepsy, had been seeing Dr. Michael Hammer for roughly 7 years before he was simply “kicked out,” for lack of a better term. I could, more recently, tell that Dr. Hammer was a bit unsure how to continue treating him, as all he had been doing for a while was changing his meds. However, we had a nice appointment a month ago. Then, I get a voicemail that says we would be better off seeing a different doctor, whom I have never heard of and who is very very far from where I live. And, Dr. Hammer had been immediately removed as his provider on my medical app, and he will not refill my son’s seizure medication, which seems like it would be against the Hippocratic oath! I am beyond livid and dumbfounded.

Very unhappy with lack of explanation 15about medications. We also felt rushed and confused about instructions for prescription.

Trying to talk to this is office is impossible, If you need to return a call it is a twenty minute process, to leave a message for the office you need to give so much information just trying to return their call. What happened to calling the office directly and getting treated nicely.

My initial impression of Dr. Hammer was that he was disinterested. But after several visits it's clear that he is a wonderful listener. He is quiet, he answers questions thoughtfully, relates well to my son, and has a wry sense of humor. I am so grateful to have found him.

My son has been seeing Dr. Hammer for over 5 years. My son really likes and trusts Dr Hammer. His bed side manner is great for pediatrics. He listens, he jokes with the young ones, and he explains everything in detail. He takes in and respects every question that the parent has and never makes you feel bad for asking. I highly recommend Dr Hammer as a Pediatric Neurologist.

Doctor Hammer can be quiet and seem far off,but he actually listens and hears every word you say.He has helpped our son tremendously,and talks with us,and him directly as well.He is very smart.The nurses are helpful.

Dr. Hammer is a great doctor. He was recommended to us because our last neurologist moved out of state. Dr. Hammer is on the quiet side, mild mannered, but when it comes down to it, he is incredibly knowledgable about my child. He listens to the parents and their concerns and is on the ball when it comes to ordering tests that need to be done. He and his staff are always on time for appointments and it is easy to get a hold of him should you need to. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Hammer.

Dr. Hammer is very thorough. He asks all pertinent questions and takes his time with the patients and family. He never makes me feel rushed or as if he is unconcerned. My son is a very reluctant patient and often uncommunicative, but Dr. Hammer is patient with him even when he is rude. He's been our son's doctor for almost 10 years and we don't want to "outgrow" him!

Dr. Hammer was rude and did not know how to deal with my 6 year old son who was scared after having been in the ER the night before. Because my son would not sit still, Dr. Hammer told him he was going to give my son a shot. At that time I left the office and will NEVER be back....

Dr. Hammer has been my son's neurologist for almost 9 years. Dr. Hammer has gone above and beyond in treating our son and his condition. His care and compassion is beyond reproach. You couldn't ask for a better physician and neurologist.
