Dr. Michael Patrick Horan, MD

Dr Horan is AMAZING!!!!Sadly the office he worked at in his. Last year before the VA did NOT allow him to practice in his fashion.... They RUSHED patient visits with constant knocking. Dr Horan doesn't like to be rushed as he spends time with us explaining problems and treatments. He cares and asks about us. While we are in pain he can usually find a way to make us smile or laugh.. I know time is money, but so is patient satisfaction.. Most of his patients refused to see the PA or NP because they felt safe and cared for with Dr Horan. Over the years his patients followed him when he moved from his longtime practice with aa partner I won't name. He moved twice before finding his new home, but even that did not turn out as promised it he stayed... He was overworked and not allowed to work on his time frame...So eventually He gifted the VA with his brilliance. Dr Horan is the kind of doctor who after years recognizes his former patients, Why?.... Because he looked them in the eye, he… spoke with us, and he always CARED. He is not to blame for office staff who frequently is rude. Or the changes from theFDA..And its crackdown And if you have a long wait it's probably because he is spending time with patients, But you will get that same attention... Best Doctor I have ever gone to.. Makes me wish I was a Vetern because he set a high bar..

You wont even see Dr Horan on your first visit, although the staff will tell you that you will consult with a physician what they really mean is that you will see a nurse!

It's true that you may have to wait to be seen, but once in the exam room, he and his PA always take their time to listen and answer questions. I've been to many doctors the past few years and this has been the only office that has been willing to research and help with a diagnosis.

Best doctor I have ever had. I was a patient of Dr. Horan from 2000-2009. I moved away and just returned here in LV. Dr. Horan has the best bedside manner, always made me so comfortable. He would take time to listen to my symptoms, what's going on with me, etc. When I left in 2009, Sergio was an awesome nurse. Don't know if he is still there, but looking forward to see Dr. Horan again.

When requesting an appointment with Dr Horan the scheduler lied to me and confirmed twice that I was scheduled with Dr Horan. When I got there I found I was actually scheduled with a Nurse Practitioner instead, and told I would be put to the end of the day, a 3 hour wait to see Dr Horan if I insisted. Office Manager was condescending, demeaning and told me that they do not have to communicate with patients as to who they are being scheduled with even if a doctor is requested by name. He insisted they did nothing wrong in scheduling me with a Nurse Practitioner and telling me I was scheduled with Dr Horan. Then the Office Manager told me 3x to promise him I would not tell the doctor about the incident or he would not let me see the doctor. When I told Med Asst Amanda this was very unprofessional, she snickered and felt it was funny. When lying, deceptive behavior, lack of professionalism and censorship of patients is acceptable behavior per the Office Manager, something is very wrong. I… also saw another review where they did the same to another patient and they also bill your insurance for the Nurse as if you were seeing the Doctor, so insurance fraud is acceptable to them also. I waited 2hrs after my appointment time to see the doctor.

NAN is amazing! I was recently scheduled to have an MRI at a location of my choice because they have my prior studies for comparison. What a horrific experience that was... they were uncaring or unconcerned with me as the patient. I walked out without having my exam done and extremely upset. When I let Sam Kates know what had happened he and his entire staff got my MRI rescheduled immediately at a different location. They have been in continuous contact with me to make sure everything is ok. This is what excellent healthcare is aboutâ?¦ Thank you so very much

Dr. Horan an has no bedside manner whatsoever. My husband and I accompanied my mother and father to my father's follow up appointment after my father suffered a massive stroke and almost died. The first words out of the dr.'s mouth (after a 2 hour wait after my dad's appointment time) was, "why are you all here?" Meaning he wanted to know why my husband and I had accompanied my Dad to his appoiment. Not a good way to start. Then he proceeded to tell us that he has nothing to do with my Dad's follow up, and that he couldn't help us. He asked my dad a couple questions- then someone knocked on the door and he literally said- "Times up. Gotta go." And proceeded to walk out of the room. Fine if he couldn't help us- I would understand, I guess. But now is requesting all these follow up appointments and testing. If he can't help us why is he trying to have my dad go thru so much more testing. VERY disgusted after leaving. Not to mention- having waited two hours past my father's appointment… time to have someone knock on the door a after a few mins and him walking out in mid sentence. This dr. Is a joke. Wouldn't recommend him to ANYONE.

Yes, the waits were long, but once you were with him, he never rushed you and made sure your needs were being addressed. I learned to call ahead to determine what time I should actually be there. That being said, Dr Horan, I would gladly pay you out of pocket (screw the insurance) to have you treat me. Please, Please, let your loyal patients know if you are practicing. Thank you.

I really like Dr Horan. I've been with him for about 5 years. He has helped me through some difficult times in my health. I agree with the reviews that his former office staff were not good.. Not true any more! New place, great front staff, great nurse staff and easy refills. I put up with the other staffing issues because I really think this Dr is great. He spends time with you and answers questions with relevant current information. (and sometimes pictures!) He is still pretty busy and sometimes, because he has to deal with emergency patients from other parts of the office, will run late. But the times have improved and I have always considered him worth the wait, regardless.
