Dr. Michael Kazim, MD

Next week is Thanksgiving and among the people I am most thankful for is Dr. Kazim. Over 10 years ago, he operated on me-- including two big operations, one on each eye-- and thanks to him I have my vision when I had been losing it due to thyroid eye disease. Living through thyroid eye disease and losing my vision, bit by bit, was terrifying. I was lucky that I was referred to Dr. Kazim by a local eye doctor. I trusted Dr. Kazim completely and the outcome was excellent. My vision is great now and no one today would even know what I had gone through then. I cannot recommend Dr. Kazim strongly enough.

I have a tumor in my eye since birth. This doctor has treated me for 29 years. He is beyond compare the best doctor I in the world .

I first met Dr. Michael Kazim twenty years ago when physicians from Mt. Sinai Hospital recommended him to me. It was imperative I see him immediately. Although Dr. Kazim had finished seeing his patient for the day, he waited for two hours for me to arrive. Upon entering his office he took my hand and smiled, I felt an instant feeling of comfort with this kind doctor. At the time I had no idea of the long journey ahead. I was going blind, my eyes were bulging in different directions. I had Graves disease along with a thyroid that at times was hyper, at other times hypo. For several years, I would travel from my central NJ home to NY on a weekly or monthly basis for my appointments, always looking forward to seeing Dr. Kazim. My condition included eyes, that for no apparent reason, would alternately droop, causing me to have sight in only one eye. Initially Dr. Kazim prescribed radiation to decrease the swelling, but despite my requests, he would not operate. My eyes were not ready, the… disease had not run its course. My sight did improve and I took a hiatus from Dr. Kazim; that was a mistake. I should have been seeing him at least once a year, as he advised me to do. I did however return in 2012 after a stress test caused my left eye to droop and become immobile. Over time, my right eye began to droop again as well. This is where I should comment on his patience and desire to continue to try and find solutions to any problem. My eyesight is a work in progress and I am so very grateful to have the excellent care and support of this wonderful doctor. His passion for his profession is clear in how he treats his patients, and in his love of teaching his interns, residents and fellows. He is a compassionate, courteous, intelligent doctor who also has a sense of humor....wish we could clone him! I have referred several people to him, they have benefitted from his skills and been very happy with their results. As an ophthalmologist I highly recommend him....as a person, I consider him a trusted friend. He recently performed an eyelift for me. His hospital team, the people in pre and post op were all very professional, kind, friendly and courteous. Stephanie, his administrator, is delightful, always helpful with the reams of paperwork, questions and making appointments..

Like I said in my last review, I'm 16 years old and I've been seeing Doctor Kazim for 5 years. Reading all of these ridiculous negative reviews I feel obligated to say something. I have never once experienced any of these accusations or been witness to any of them. I have gotten to know Dr Kazim both in and out of the office and he has become a HUGE part of my life. I'm forever grateful to him for everything he has done and continues to do for me and I am honored to have the privilege of knowing him.

He is the Dr. House of orbits and delightful to boot.

Dr. Kazim saved my eyesight; I had thyroid eye disease and was losing my vision. My eyeballs were large and had expanded within my eye sockets and I looked like a frog. I was in terrible shape when I met him. Dr. Kazim operated on my left eye first, then my right eye, and saved my vision. No one looking at me now would know that I had had that condition. He later did the surgery so my eyeballs lined up and I could see straight. I see a set of negative reviews I suspect by the same disgruntled person. People considering who to go to should understand that Dr. Kazim is referred and treats the most seriously ill patients many of whom have been given wrong treatment before they get to him (as had I) and need the most serious of operations. When I first met Dr. Kazim I had out of control Graves Disease and I was bordering on hysterical -- I think many patients who see him are at their worst. I am so thankful that my eye doctor referred me to him. I have given… his name to others and think that if you need orbital surgery you can't find a better doctor.

The most unpleasant, discourteous receptionist who does not know how to deal with people. She speaks to patients in an abrupt tone and distorts their messages to the doctor. The doctor dislikes answering questions by phone, even they are urgent. He demonstrates poor bedside manner characterized by his impatience and arrogance.

Dr. Kazim formed hypothesis about my eye problem. He put me thru test after test which contradicted his hypothesis but he refused to change his diagnosis. I finally left his practice and would never use him again.

Dr. Kazim has been treating my wife's Graves Disease for a number of years. He's performed complex eye surgery and been there for us in the middle of the night when a problem arose. He is challenged by complex problems and had the talent to find solutions. He is surrounded by a great staff. and is one of the nicest most patient doctors you could meet.
