Dr. Michael William Martin

Michael Martin is a licensed clinical social worker. Michael is patient, educated, and informed, and has worked with patients since 2011. His years of experience have helped him become culturally competent in working with patients of different ages, races, and cultures, and he is always eager to expand his understanding. He sees the patient-therapist relationship as a team. With a new patient, Michael first seeks to fully understand the scope of what the patient is seeking help with. From there, he establishes a collaborative relationship based on learning and practicing cooping, cognitive, and social skills to help them thrive and achieve their goals. He aims to give each of his patients the support they need to live their best lives. Patients can expect consistency and dedication from him, as well as an ability and willingness to work at the patients own pace. When appropriate, Michael uses a blend of cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and behavior …modification. To treat patients with concerns ranging from ADHD, anxiety, coping skills, depression, grief, life transitions, medication management, relationship issues, stressful life events, trauma, and more. Michael believes growing up in North Carolina for half his childhood greatly contributed to his ability to be patient and understanding toward others. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising, attending concerts and sporting events, and spending time with his children. Michael enjoys working with SohoMD because of the supportive, inclusive environment.
