Dr. Michael Jay Mcwilliams, MD

Today was my first visit with Doctor McWilliams. The staff in the Monkey Junction Wilmington Health office were very welcoming and made check in a breeze. I was able to see Dr. McWilliams before my appointment time. (what a pleasant surprise) Dr McWilliams and his assistant were very thorough in reviewing my past medical history and any current concerns I had. Dr McWilliams provided useful suggestions for weight loss and some realistic goals to strive for. He sent in a referral for my colonoscopy and scheduled my labs. I can say without reservation that Dr McWilliams provided the best care I have received since moving to Wilmington 4 years ago. I have confidence that he will provide the best primary care that I could receive.

I met with Dr. McWilliams and his staff as a new patient after having to navigate through tiresome searches for new physicians when my insurance changed at the end of last year. The staff was friendly, informative and timely. I was greeted by Tania who was very friendly and helpful. Christy, LPN, was informative and friendly and made sure I knew of their hours of operation, the way to get in touch with the staff, and the 7-day care facility that is located at the office in Myrtle Grove. Dr. McWilliams was thorough in his review of my family history, my current concerns with my health, and overall review of "next steps" to address those same concerns. He was very informative and patient and acknowledged the frustration that can happen during a new physician search. I did not feel rushed at all...much different than the past physicians' group I had at NHRMG. Dr. McWilliams exuded confidence and compassion during our visit. I feel quite fortunate that he was recommended to me and… I took the "leap of faith" to make the appointment. The appointment was timely and the follow up with his nurses and staff was exceptional. I was helped during check-out by Melissa who set me up with the online patient portal and future appointments. A follow-up call for testing was made the next day by Caroline. No waiting and wondering here with this group of fine professionals! Thanks to all for a great first-time experience with Dr. McWilliams and Wilmington Health!

Spends as much time as necessary. Has conservative views on medications, other interventions. Does systematic physical exams. Easy to schedule appointments.

Lacks compassion and empathy.

Dr. McWilliams is pleasant,informative and very helpful and optimistic when I visited him . I highly recommend him. He is great and has a wonderful outlook.
