Dr. Michael Howard Popkin, MD

Doctor Popkin gets overwhelmed if you have more than 1 existing medical condition that he has no idea how to treat . Find a physician who will tell you the truth from the beginning so he doesn't waste your time. He also has a huge temper and has a very unprofessional bedside manner, Warning! Stay from the Dr. Pompkin.

Very caring and non-alarmist but thorough doctor. Always makes time to see me when I feel I need to be seen and returns phone calls with test results or on weekends when office is closed.

My very first appt was today with Dr. Popkin, and honestly, he still really loves being a doctor after 30 years. He seems to be very invested in your health. He was professional, likable and thorough. He listened first then asked the correct questions. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a primary care physician. My husband and I both new patients and are happy and safe in his care. Office staff is efficient and office is clean.

He's definitely "one in a million". I don't write reviews; I typically think most of them are written by the person/company being reviewed. But Dr. Popkin is an exception. He doesn't stand at a computer making notes in my chart, half listening and glancing in my general direction. He actually sits down and looks at me before examining me. He asks me questions about how I feel and how I think things are going. Truly a doctor that I am thrilled to have found.

I've been going to doctor Popkin for about a year now and he's great. He knows a lot, really listens to you, is very helpful, is never condescending, and always tries to go the extra mile. Twice now I've needed same day visits because of some emergency and he always fits me in, and will even call me on my personal phone after hours to let me know something important or to see if I'm still OK. The wait time isn't horrible, but its not great. The only other remotely negative thing I have to say is that the office person/ "nurse" could be more pleasant but thats all. She's still very efficient and helpful, just is a little standoffish (so the 2 starts I gave in courtesy and professionalism of staff refer to her and courtesy, not professionalism. His whole office is very professional.) There are always people of every age sitting in his waiting room.

Dr. Popkins is one of the few doctors that takes the time needed in order to get to know his patients which enables him to relate to him on a level they can understand. He provides his patients with various options, and while he may encourage patients to take a specific course of action, he is not an alarmist, an takes the time to follow up with them.
