Dr. Michael Anthony Schiano, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Schiano for several years. He has always treated me with caring and respect. He always takes time to answer any questions. His staff is also friendly and caring.

My sister was 31 yrs old and passed away. He discharged her 4 times from the hospital with NO PLAN or even making an appt with his office to make a plan of treatment. She was stage 4 which took us 5 weeks to get from him and his staff, after we was told numerous times SHE DID NOT HAVE CANCER. my sister lived 6 weeks. Yes she was terminal but they could of done something to help. They gave the family lies and false hope. We have so many un answered questions that they would not give us.

Dr. Schiano treated my mother for ovarian cancer. She woke one morning and couldn't walk. I called his office and was told they couldn't see her for three weeks. THREE WEEKS! We immediately took her elsewhere. Oh, and while you're waiting HOURS in the waiting room for your appointment, the doctor is upstairs in his apartment napping. According to the nurses at CAMC, they call him The Butcher.

I've seen Dr. Michael Schiano since 2011, and I would recommend him to anyone as the best in his field!

VERY BAD PROFESSIONAL INITIAL APPT. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND FOR MY DOG!!!!

While the initial visit regarding my mother's cancer was very informative and nice, all care through Dr. Shiano since has been abyssal. His is never less than an hour late for an appointment, and usually more like 2 hours late. He ignores questions when my mother has them. One strategy he has used is to say he'll be back to answer any questions about treatment, but not returning and having the office staff usher her and those with her out. He consistently fails to follow-through on simple things like sending records. He is irresponsible enough to have avoided (for weeks- until I stepped in) explaining what a painful mass is (he didn't even bother to tell her it wasn't cancer, but a complication from surgery, despite her asking him face to face). Days after my mother's surgery, when we just wanted to make sure that her staples weren't infected, he ordered countless tests (sonagram, x-ray, ct, etc), when nothing was wrong besides some pinkness around the… staples. Despite the previous point, when he assumed the surgical complication that was painful and seriously interfering with her work and life would have healed (while it very much hadn't), he insisted that it had because it "should have," and wouldn't even check for himself- sending my mother off not to return for 3 months.

Dr. Schiano recently operated on my mother. His compassion was not just for my mother but for myself as well.I highly recommend him and am also told by the hospital staff that he is THE BEST!! I believe this. If you have to wait when you have an appointment. Then do it. Note, it is not a routine visit. He is an Oncology Physician. He spends very adequate time with every patient, leaving nothing to question. . I live out of state and I am confident enough in his ability to return to him for any needs that I may have if the situation arises.

Dr. Schiano and his staqff are excellant. I would like to recognize Ashley and Mary for thier patience and kindness. When dealing with cancer it takes speial people to handle families especially patients that are nurses. Dr. Schiano's expertiese us unsurpassed.Thank you!
