Dr. Slavens saved my life, spending multiple hours over multiple surgeries. He was the only surgeon familiar with the surgery necessary for the rare disease I was infected with. He diagnosed it immeditrely in E.R. and had me in surgery within minutes. The severity of my prognosis on a scale of 1=survival to10= death, I was a "9". Dr.Slavens operated and 21 days later I walked out of BMC with no amputations necessary. That's practically unheard of statistically, when treating necrotising faciitis!
