Dr. Michael Tyler Smith, MD

If I could give this rating a zero I would. Dr. Michael Smith is the worst excuse for a doctor I've ever experienced in my life. First, he didn't tell me who he was, I ended up having to call the office back and ask who I was seen by. I told him I thought I'd miscarried but didn't know if I was even pregnant. I told him it had to be under a month as I'd gotten my period the last month. He asked why I thought that I'd miscarried and as soon as I told him I had spotting for a week then heavy bleeding he told me it was my period. I had a multitude of other symptoms he didn't care to hear and cut me off mid sentence when he heard I was bleeding to ask me if I took a pregnancy test. I told him I took one TWO WEEKS after the bleeding started and it was negative to which he looked at me like I was stupid and replied "You have to actually be pregnant to have a miscarriage." He dismissed all of my other questions, he didn't touch me or give me any type of physical exam. He shrugged it off as… a 2 week early period and told me to wait until next month and see if it's normal again. I'm 23. I got my period at 11. It has NEVER been like that. I've never bled for 2 weeks, never gotten blood clots that frequent or that size, never had back pain and cramping for two weeks straight. But he didn't know that because he didn't care to hear anything else after I said blood. The whole visit he spoke down to me and acted like I had no idea what my body is supposed to feel like. I left in tears with more questions than I'd arrived with. He has no compassion or empathy, he is rude, dismissive, and lazy. I would not trust "Dr." Michael Smith if my life depended on it. After reading many reviews on him, I now see I'm not the only one who left in tears feeling neglected. Don't waste your time and money, go see someone else.

I do not know what happened to the other reviews of this doctor but he suck! Do not go to him. Completely unprofessional, he botched my surgery but found a way to cover his tracks in the medical records. I should have listened to my first mind and cancelled my appointment w/him. He was usually late and when he finally did see me he acted like he was in a hurry. Probably why my surgery was rushed and botched. Be warned find someone not even affliated w/Mary Washington if at all possible but by all means STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR! Rapp Womens Health is run like a cattle call and you always wait 40 or more mins. pass your appt. time. I do not have anything bad to say about his staff they do their best. I cant say enough things in this review to make you stay away and not make an appt with him but trust me you will regret it. He is very well know and other doctors are willing to cover his butt and this is terrible. I hope my review will not be in vain and will save some other women… heartache and tears.
