Dr. Michele Sylvia Perlis, MD

I was a patient of hers when she practiced in Washington. She did emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy that was 12 weeks along. I loved her. She also delivered my daughter in 1994. If she hadn’t moved she would still be my doctor.

A great OB-Gyn who is so caring and wise

Dr. Perlis is the absolute best doctor I have ever had. She makes you feel so comfortable, is kind, compassionate and up on all of the latest medicines and technology.

I believe Dr. Perlis deserves all accolades given to her as an individual and a professional. Though not meeting Dr. Perlis until rotations in my first trimester, the trust developed over one appointment left me with the sense that she had been my OB for years. Her intuitive awareness, sharp intellect, wonderful humor, and guiding confidence not only make for amicable relationships, but sincere ones. She is the reason my son was delivered safely and forever holds my respect. Her recommendation to others from my perspective is obvious and well merited.

Dr Perlis and the staff have been a pleasure to work with! I've had MANY issues and they were always taken care of immediately! Dr Perlis always follows up with me, not her nurses. Surprised people have had bad experiences there...have sent many friends to her!

She was not very good at diagnosing our daughter's medical problems. She missed a major heart defect and this child should have been delivered at a level one NICU.( She was life flighted with in minutes of her birth) Also, my child was born with down syndrome which WE were fine with, but she and the staff acted as though there had been a death instead of a happy addition to our family. She failed to take our cue regarding our total acceptance and was very negative and almost callous at the delivery. Our daughter's birth was a joyous occasion marred only by her ignorance with regards to DS and the medical conditions that sometimes accompany it. I really do not recommend her based on her seeming lack of real medical knowledge and inability to plan a birth that will ensure the best outcome for the BABY, not to mention her lack of compassion and bedside manner.

I went to Dr. Perlis for a checkup and to complain about constant pain and pressure on 1 side under my ribs, I gave her my medical records which she flipped thru. It said I had a cyst that the previous doctor had been watching. Her ultrsound tech was off tht day and she did not see any reason to have me come back to have the test done.My apain increased over months and I developed a hiatal hernia and sever burning of the esophogus which destroyed the valve at the base of the esophagus.I could no longer lie flat and have to be on mediaction the rest of my life. THe other doctors I saw during this time assumed she gave me good checkup.I went back to her after 9 months during which tiome my stoach kept getting larger. The other doctors told me I should loose wait. WHen I saw her and complained about it, she checked me again and told me I had a tumor the size of a football. I was sent for an ultrasound and cat scan. THe tumor was so large they couldn't tell on which ovary I had it.I wanted… to go to Northwestn University Hospital but she told me I would not get good care there. SHe schelduled me for surgery and told me I would need a total hysterectomy. I said I just wanted to remove the cyst if there was no problem with the my other ovary. SHe did the surgery which was supposed to take 3 to 4 hours in less than 45 minutes. I had a 4lb. cyst. SHe din't tie my intrnal sutures where she had revoved my uterus and ovaries correctly and as she was in a rush to go elsewhere, didn't sew my muscles back toegher nor the facia that holds your insides in place. She just stapled my skin with underlying fat together. In the recovery room one of the internal sutures opened. SHe ran out of the operating room as soon as the surgery was over.Another surgeon rushed me back to stop the bleeding. I lost 50cc of blood during the surgery and another 550cc when the suture opened. I spoke to another surgeon and he said he never heard of anything like that happenening. As for just removing the 1 ovary, she did a complete hysterectomy. THe pathology report showed that my uterus and other ovary were normal and did not need to be removed.I did not go back to her after the surgery, but went to another doctor. I found out a few years later about not having had y muscles and facia sewn back and was told I had to be careful that I didn't injure my stomach or it would tear open the skin and my stomach and bowel would herniate out of my body. THat there was nothing that could be done to fix it. I have had to be very careful, have a permanently damaged esophagus, look like I am 9 months pregnant, can't lie flat and am on medication for the rest of my life. It also brought on early menopause and all the problems that come with having no more female hormones. I pity anyone who puts their life and trust in her hands.

DOWN TO EARTH DOCTOR, LISTENS, AND TELLS IT LIKE IT IS, GREAT STAFF, MED SPA IS WONDERFUL AS WELL, EVERYTHING I NEED IN ONE STOP

I have been a patient of Dr. Perlis for 10 years. I have found over the last 5 years she hurries thru appts and doesn't listen. I wasn't feeling well and suspected my thyroid was off. Even told her that both parents had thyroid problems and I wanted to see an Endocrinlogist. She discouraged me from doing so. I am glad I did not listen to her. I do have a thyroid problem. I am finding another Ob/Gyn.

I have been a patient of Dr. Perlis for years. She is an awesome lady with a caring staff. She is professional but at the same time you feel like you're with a friend, not "just" a doctor. Highly recommend her!
