Dr. Miriam Chithrani Pereira, MD

Overall, Tepeyac Family Center doctors are great but I avoid getting this doctor as best I can. With my last pregnancy I saw her twice and was unfortunate enough to go into labor while she was on call. I felt like she was very cold, did not address all my concerns, and was very rough on my baby. If she would have allowed me to push more instead of grabbing onto my daughters head and pulling, i think my daughter would have not been as bruised. When I went for my follow up six weeks later, she didnt even remember delivering me. (I know they deliver alot of women but she couldve at least checked my file..) just felt impersonal, cold, and in the end I was just very unhappy. I am looking for another practice as we speak for fear of her delivering my next child.

I went to see this doctor as a follow up for an emergency room visit (I have been having a lot of issues with ovarian cysts). She was very rude. Very unhelpful and accused me of "allowing my pain to get so bad that I end up in an emergency room." She proceeded to ask me if I "enjoyed going to the emergency room." After I explained that the pains that send me to the E.R. for the third time over a course of 7 years with these pains, she said "well some women get cysts more than others and some have to live with them." To make matters even worse, I had gotten my period that morning. I called the practice and asked if I should still come, as I knew they would be unable to perform a pelvic exam. The nurse told me I should still go to at least discuss the pains that I was experiencing. When I met with Dr. Pereira, she said she would perform the pelvic exam. I explained that I was on my period. She said as long as it wasn't very heavy, she wanted to do it. I told her that if she thought she… could, then to go on and do so. After performing the pelvic exam, she said well I can't tell anything anyways because you are on your period...Do not go see this woman. The office staff was VERY friendly and pleasant. The nurses were great. I do not know anything about the other doctors but she is horrible!

I was pleased I didn't have to wait 6 months to secure an appointment. Helpful staff, pleasant atmosphere and Tepeyac takes my insurance. Dr. Pereira spent time with me listening to my concerns - I was not rushed.

I have been going to this practice for several years and suffered multiple miscarriages. As she as the only one who could see me unfortunately I have had the experience of her treating me twice. Both times were horrible and she even referred to my miscarriages as abortions while obtaining my history which is a horrible mistake to make! Although she probably meant spontaneous abortion this is a critically error that even English as a second language cannot make up for. If I deliver this pregnancy and she is on call , I agree with a previous reviewer I will opt for an attending dr in the hospital versus her!!

I have only seen Dr. Pereira once, but I am surprised at the negative comments here. She was gentle and answered all my questions.I was not looking for someone to hug me or hold my hand, so maybe that is what some are expecting and not getting. She was very matter of fact, but still friendly and courteous.

Dr. Pereira is a wonderful doctor, whom I would trust with my daughter or best friend. She is kind caring and considerate. She is slightly reserved, which I think some women feel is uncaring. She is quick and I never have to wait to see her. Please take what these other women say with a grain of salt.

Please avoid this woman at all cost, she is the absolute worst Dr. I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. She was rude dismissive and completely uninterested in my overall well being. After the examination I felt humiliated and embarrassed it was absolutely terrible.

This is one of the worst doctors I have ever seen. Went to see her for my 12 week prenatal exam. She was rushing thru appointment.Was Extremely rude,and Uncaring. She did not even complete the full 12 wk prenatal exam. She said its no big deal dont worry about it!!! The entire time she was in the room doing the incomplete "exam" she was too busy talking/gossiping with the nurse who was helping her. like i wasnt even there.When she told me she was "done" and i could leave I asked her about the remaining things she was supposed to check during the 12 wk exam that she did not do. She became even ruder and said if your not happy go somewhere else. The staff was excellent they were attentive and caring. willing to answer and solve questions.wish I could say the same for this doctor. guess her paycheck is more important then patient care. I will never return to this facility for the simple fact i do not want to deal with this doctor. sad too, everyone else at facility was very nice.

This doctor did not run any of the blood tests needed and saw me for two seconds after I had pneumonia. She also told me that because she couldn't see anything on the sonogram at first that I probably was mistaken about my positive pregnancy test or that I was going to have an ectopic pregnancy and need surgery. I will never go back to this idiot again.
