Dr. Mitchell Gareth Isaac, MD

I saw this doctor for several visits. He ordered many tests, along with a couple of brain MRI’s. My visits spanned a couple of years. He couldn’t find anything. He told me on my last visit “maybe it’s Fibromyalgia...you know we say that, when we can’t find anything wrong” and laughed. Then he said “I think you should see a psychiatrist. I think your symptoms are caused by a psychological disorder....then said “hey, it is ‘all in your head’ after all. Again he laughed. Over the next few months, I continued to get sicker. I got so weak I could barely walk. I appeared to have aged 30 years, in 6 months. I was going to die, if someone didn’t listen. I went to Duke, where I was diagnosed with a rare disease, caused by a pituitary / brain tumor. Yep, Dr. Isaac, it was in my head!!! And you could have caused me to die, because YOU didn’t interpret multiple Brain MRI’s correctly!!!

I chose this physician upon the advice of my chiropractor and because your site stated 'compassionate physician award' . This is the least compassionate physician I had seen! I was informed to 'give him the facts in order' while he sat at the computer...which translates of course to 'hurry up'. I asked him did he know the chiropractor who gave me the referral. He said 'yes of course'. I assume they must be friends. Irrelevant except for the fact that when I politely told him I did not take prescriptive drugs, he replied in a less that courteous tone 'I know most people who visit chiropractors do not'. There was no 'thank you for choosing me' and never a smile during the entire visit. I told him I'd cared for my mother through three strokes and lost her this past March, so I wanted to make certain that I had no potential issues with this regard. Still stone faced he had no response at all....not even 'I am sorry for your loss'! The ONLY positive thing I can say, is that he does give a… thorough examination. I cannot truly rate the diagnosis and follow up, though the site is prompting me that I must. I have rated one star, but he has not had the chance to diagnose as I will not be having the tests there. He wanted me to have an MRI and an EMG, so there has been no diagnosis....and will not be from him. When I informed him that I had all my diagnostics done in SC and I had phoned his office prior to make certain this was acceptable, he said again in a nasty tone and with the unpleasant look, 'SC?! WHY SC?!' I informed him that I had learned there was an exorbitant price difference .He said yet ANOTHER time in his unfriendly tone "I don't know why SC would be any different." I told him that Blue Cross informed me SC was always less than NC. He then proceeded to sell me on the medication again and said in his nastiest tone, "I'm here to give you my professional advice and you can choose to take it or not". I am a sales' rep', so I guess this was the hard sale time for profit....he''e even a poor sales person. I'm so sorry he lost money with the pharmaceutical company because he could not write me that prescription! Any doctor should respect your wishes for no drugs with a ...'I respect that'. If they are required to inform you as when my mother was dying they do so in a pleasant tone. I was told with her, "May I tell you why I think she needs this and if your decision then is still the same, you will hear no more from me". A kind doctor! When Dr. Issac was leaving the room ...half out of the doorway he said..."I'm out of time. We'll talk more when you schedule the test" Again which translates to...'you have taken too much of my time'. He was there all of about 15 or twenty minutes. I am sick of these doctors today who are so fixated on time. I know they blame it on the managed care. Not true as I have one very special urologist who will spend as long with each patient, as he feels they need. You always receive a smile and a warm hello...a 'how are you..what is happening in your life'. The kind of doctor that every doctor USED to be, before this business became nothing but sales. In the 60's 70's and even 80's ....one never had a physician tell a patient they were infringing upon their time. RUDE! You also never heard ' I am seeing no more patients.' I have no idea where your site received the information 'compassionate award'. I looked for a plaque in his office and there was none. Misinformation for sure, given his current demeanor. If this was accurate, he must have certainly changed since the award. I hate I wasted my time, and would not return if I was paid to do so!

He worked hard to help my migraines, but at times he can be negative toward the patient.

This doctor is nothing short of amazing. I've been taking my cousin to him for memory issues, and less than a month later, she is improving dramatically. His manner alone is quite comforting to seniors (in our case) which encourages them to be open and forthcoming with him. When you leave his office you feel like he knows you. Highly recommend!

He is wonderful. Really listens and pays attention to what you say. Found my problem right away. Definitely knows what he is doing.
