Dr. Monica Sum Yee Lee, MD

After reading all her negative reviews, I decided to give Dr. Lee the benefit of the doubt. I prefer a straight forward doctor who is thorough and direct. It did not bother me that Dr. Lee wasn't 'warm and fuzzy'. After seeing Dr. Lee and speaking with her a few times over the phone regarding fertility testing, I have to agree that she is probably the most condescending and rude doctor I have ever seen. She called to inform me of my test results and asked me to write down the name of a specialist. Our call was disconnected so I called her office and was told that she was not available. When I explained that I was just on the phone with Dr. Lee they put me through to her office. Dr. Lee picked up and said that she hung up on me because she couldn't wait for me to get a pen, which took 5 seconds?!?! I told her her that i had a few other questions and she cut me off to say that she was too busy and hung up on me AGAIN!!! I would have given her 0 stars if that were possible.

Both doctor and staff are unprofessional and incompetent.

I can understand all of the reviews both gOod and bad. I have seen Dr Lee about six times now and while most times she is pretty nice there are times when she seems very condescending and says some pretty inappropriate things. I don't know if she is bipolar or something, but you never know what you are going to get. If you question something she says she gets pretty condescending and laughs at you instead of trying to explain. She also doesn't seem to really listen and often blows off your concerns. I am not sure what is going on with this doctor. Sometimes she seems companionate and then the next time you go in she will be very arrogant. I have now decided that I do not want her delivering my baby as I no longer feel comfortable. I also question her medical knowledge and she often tends to make generalization. Steer clean of Dr. Monica Lee. Though her nurse is wonderful. She will be missed.

Staff was pleasant and helpful.Wait time was fine, in fact, they squeezed me for another test while I was there.Dr. Lee seemed friendly, her treatment seems to me aggressive but perhaps it saves lives.I will continue to see her.

Contrary to other negative reviews, my experience so far with Dr. Monica Lee has been very thorough & pleasant. I had minimal waiting time along each stage of the visit (checkin, vitals, pap smear, followup). I'm pushing 38 and preparing to have a baby so the truth stings regarding fertility but that's reality. Docs are supposed to give facts not sugar coat the situation. Anyway, she educated me in the procedures I needed to have and although 'matter-of-fact' initially, she was empathic and I was comfortable as she performed an endometrial biopsy (painless). She personally called to give me my lab results shortly after and I have several follow-ups so I'll update again. Overall, I recommend this skillful and knowledgeable physician.

After experiencing my second miscarriage, Dr. Lee and her friendly staff were very supportive. Melanie, her secretary is not only pleasant to talk to but NEVER keeps me waiting. She returns calls promptly and follows up with appointments. As someone who has been in and out of Cedar Sinai a lot in the past 6 months due to complications during two pregnancies, I can honestly say that Dr. Lee's office was the easiest to deal with. I was starting to loose hope with Cedar Sinai before I met Dr. Lee. As far as Dr. Lee, she is not only compassionate but very professional and knowledgeable. I am glad she was the one who performed my D&C. I have healed fast thanks for her. I also love the nurses who work in her office. Everyone I have dealt with made me feel like a person rather than a number. That means so much when you're going through a stressful and frustrating health situation. I will continue to see Dr. Lee, who is making an effort to continue to help me find the reason for my health… issues. This gives me great comfort.

Dr. Monica Lee is not fully capable of correctly diagnosing medical problems that are in her routine notebook, so she easily makes mistake. Therefore, I do agree with the patient who mentioned Dr. Lee made a wrong diagnosing in her case. Unfortunately, Dr. Lees bedside manner is unpleasant, and her staff is lazy and rude. Don't waste your time going to her. In general, I also think poorly of Cedars Sinai nowadays. This medical facility thinks everyone is a celebrity and has tons of money, so if you are just a normal citizen with an affordable insurance, you will most likely be treated with less priority.

I'm sort of confused by the negative reviews. I've been seeing Dr. Lee for 2 years now. Just for GYN at this point but hope to have her as OB when the time comes. She's always spent a great deal of time with me & explains a lot about any issues/questions I have. I found her very down to earth & easy to talk to. Almost like a friend. I haven't had any serious problems, just regular paps & birth control pill questions so that's all I can comment on but I loved her and almost wish I would see her more than once a year.

Dr. Monica Lee is not reactive and reliable at all. She can easily make you lose time specially if you're dealing with time sensitive issues such as having a surgery or facing infertility. Her staff's way of approaching patients totally matches her lack of expertise, so overall they are a good team to make you run away and stop going to her exactly like what I did. Don't waste your time with Cedars Sinai OBGYN team in general. Find another medical group that is as outstanding as UCLA. By the way, to answer to the patient who thinks this doctors bedside manner is good, I should say that you havent seen better!

I do not expect a lot of hand holding but I do expect some effort from my doctor. Dr. Lee does treat patients like they are a number not a person. She does not discuss solutions or address questions adequately. She would like nothing better than for you simply take the meds and be on your way. Also, she does NOT pay attention to what you just said. I see a lot of polarity in these reviews and maybe she is just schizo/racist/or weird like that. If you hate your dr.'s appointments then go to Dr. Lee but if you care about your health, find someone else. Good luck.
