Dr. Morton Isaac Hyson, MD

I have seen Dr Hyson for 5 years. He did a full range of tests, and tried a variety of treatments. Finally settled into a treatment program that works for me. He does not waste time on unnecessary treatments or tests, even when I ask about them. He seems smart and efficient.

I took my mother in last year on a referral from her primary at my request. She was 87 at the time and had a previous medical emergency. She had some drastic changes and I wanted to know what specifically had happened and why so quickly. He hardly spent any time with us and wouldn't let me explain what had happened; he left and sent in someone to give some verbal tests to mom. His accent was so thick that I could barely understand him. They said that she had dementia, wrote a prescription and ordered an MRI. The meds made her sick and I don't need to tell you how terrible an MRI is. We went for our follow-up and when I told him about the meds, he was like "Oh, well". He then when on to say that he saw no evidence of a stroke, but had not said that's why he ordered it. I then asked why Mom had changed so quickly. His response "I don't know what you want me to tell you, I'm a Neurologist!" Well I was dumbstruck by this and just wanted to get out of there quickly. He had initially made me… feel uneasy and it seemed like he had to force himself to smile which just made him look creepy.

This man treated my 83 year old mother like a second class citizen who wouldn't answer her questions. My mother has had strokes, and a few head injuries and refused to do the necessary tests. He is extremely defensive and with a huge ego. Warning to new patients.

I went to Dr.Hyson to be diagnosed again for a workers comp case because the first doctor didn't get it right. Dr.Hyson came in and asked what my symptoms are at the moment so I told him what they were. He then asked if I was taking any meds and what work I did. I told him I worked in psych and I was hit in the head by a patient. He then did a partial motor reflex check then told me that they were going to do an EEG. After the EEG was done I was told to go to the front desk to see when my next appointment was. I then asked for a work release to show that I cannot work but he released me for work with no lifting work restrictions which at my job I don't do anyway since I work with mentally unstable people who have committed crimes. Had he seemed more willing to listen to the whole situation and spend more time with me rather than asking me what my symptoms are at the moment then he would know more about what I am going through. I had a diagnosis from another doctor who is my primary… physician since workers comp was trying to block me from getting treatment before this visit. This visit has made my anxiety worse since this doctor released me for work and the place I would be working is no longer a suitable place for me nor is the profession I am in for my mental stability. I was really hoping this visit would help me in my case since Dr.Hyson is a certified psychiatrist as well. Now Ill have to find another Neurologist after appealing the appointment for this doctor waiting more time for a doctor who can listen give me a right diagnosis to send to AIG WC division. I also have to think about if I don't win the case who would cover my ssri meds that I now take because of this repeat work injury since I have it covered through Medicaid since workers comp didn't want to anyone to treat me under them after a period of time and I haven't worked in 6-7mos because of this. Please Dr. Hyson if you read these reviews I would recommend having a more caring and inviting aura. I know being a doctor is stressful but us people depend on decisions and comfort from people like you. We don't want to feel like we are wasting your time or you don't have time to listen to us patients. I have worked with doctors like that and they usually get most of their information from nurses and floor staff along with the patients to complete their data. This doesn't seem to be the case in this practice, so more time needs to be spent with the patient in order to get the full picture.

Unfortunately Dr. Hyson has only ever spent a couple of minutes with me on each occasion. I have seen other specialists that have advised further treatment with Dr. Hyson, but he is only keen on prescribing addictive medication for me. What I need is further tests to find the cause of the problem. Why be brilliant when you can get paid for being mediocre?

I was referred to Dr Hyson through an insurance company due to an accident. I was always treated with kindness and always professionally. Since my trauma, Dr Hyson has been patient and listen to me and spent enough time during my appointment to let me know he has empathy and cares about his patients. The office staff is very professional and always has a smile. I feel like I am in good hands and never doubt his diagnosis. Nancy

I love Dr. Hyson and his staffs. They are wonderful people who took very good care of me and made me feel comfortable and explain everything to me clearly.

Oh boy where do I start

If there were minus stars I would hace chosen those to rate this doctor. Let's start with they charging a $3 fee to use your card to pay for co-payments. Never heard anything more ridiculous in my entire life. Money hungry? The doctor seems a little unstable,delusional and narcissistic. 2 1/2 mins in the room hardly listening so at the he end he could say it doesn't understand the reason for the visit. EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. This man should be strip away from his right to practice medicine. Disgusted by his bedside manner and feeling robbed by the waste of time. My insurance will pay this loony toon for a visit that left me upset and with zero answers to my medical condition. Feeling so frustrated and disrespected. RUN!!!! FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR! Under no circumstances go to this horrible man!!!!!!!!

First time in today. Was diagnosed at the hospital. Dr Hyson was referred. MRI & follow up scheduled
