Dr. Murren S Hill, PhD

Appears intelligent, sincere, and trustworthy but behind the superficial facade of charisma is a real lack of empathy, lack of compassion, grandiosity and inflated sense of self importance and entitlement. Believes she is superior to those of lower social class, education level and intellectual acuity. People who are poor, overweight/obese, people of color, what she refers to as 'hillbillies and trailer trash', those struggling with alcohol or drug addiction, trauma victims, those suffering from mental health issues are seemingly beneath her, a headache not worth her time. Arrogant, condescending with narcissistic traits and tendencies. Emotionless with the exception of boredom and disgust. In a position which embues authority, she is motivated solely by ego, money, power, and control instead of actually helping clients. Murren omitted and withheld information, then feigned ignorance to manipulate and generate more chaos. How does a 'Doctor of Psychology' with 15 years fail to… identify and disclose pertinent information regarding obvious signs and symptoms of underlying mental health disorders? Withholding information is to her advantage because it keeps you on her couch in long term therapy. Why call it 'Psychological' Renovations when you refuse to meaningfully address anxiety, depression, PTSD, mood disorders, personality disorders and think people with these issues are crazy? Murren has no child rearing experience to understand and appreciate the dynamics of motherhood. The same goes for the challenges of military families. If that doesn't deter you then consider this...Murren's exorbitant fees reflect greed ($200+ hour self pay), which is why you don't see hourly rates displayed like most practicioners. Kept from public view, it allows unfettered fee increases to keep the money stream, like a great wave, always moving in her direction. $200 per session but doesn't want to do anything but dole out mediocre advice that gets menial results. I didn't realize it at the time but now know this: Certain clients represent her bread and butter. Individuals, like myself, who have suffered from psychological abandonment (those who as children experienced maternal deprivation, physical abuse, emotional abuse, scapegoating, gas-lighting and suffered a variety of traumas) are susceptible to developing a strong attachment and excessively dependent upon their therapist. Murren exploits this vulnerability and emotional dependency with the sole purpose of extending the course of treatment based on her heady monetary goals. She takes advantage of the weak, lonely, desperate and plays upon one's vulnerabilities. How can a person in her position prey upon those struggling with mental health issues? She doesn't break any laws per se but she is void of compassion. Deceptive practices with questionable ethics/morals. Recommend anyone but Murren Hill, Psychological Renovations LLC. When you are considering someone to help you problem solve and navigate life, I beg you to consider Murren's insensitive, ineffective, and irresponsible treatment . Hope this review helps. I was seeing Dr. Hill while I was in a very toxic relationship, recovering from cancer, and unemployed. I was literally trapped in a horrid situation, with no family in the area that could help me and struggling with depression and anxiety. She guided me work through those issues, and was incredibly helpful in figuring out my next steps. In many ways I feel like she kept me sane and by helping me build back my self-esteem helped me get my life back. I was able to find a new job, move out / end abusive relationship, and start fresh in a different city. The only downside is that I am in a different state and I've lost the best therapist I ever had. Forever thankful to her.

Dr. Hill has been instrumental in encouraging a teen not to accept discouraging words from her Father. He failed to plan ahead and save for her college education, despite the fact she has had all A's and B's throughout her academic career. Father choose to instead to buy a 16 year old a Volvo and give it to her with gas and insurance for free. Great lesson in finances, hard work and savings Dad. The same parent refuses to co-sign a loan for college and encouraged a straight-A student who worked incredibly hard throughout high school to live with him and attend community college. The Father told the teen that she may not succeed at University and then end up on his doorstep begging him for money. Yes, she showed me the text messages. Nice encouragement again Dad. The teen's Step-Father gladly co-signed a loan through the military and she is attending University, as she planned. Father refused to co-sign for housing, said, "I can't have that on my credit". At the same time… Father and Step-Mother are telling teen they can't help with room and board, they decided to start a FL Prepaid College plan for their young daughter and then tell the HS Senior that they couldn't help her. Dr. Hill has helped the teen with her feelings regarding those comments and many more "words of wisdom, discouragement and controlling behaviors" from her Father. I wouldn't give the previous reviewer much credence. Father has brand new house, fence and landscaping, which he didn't have any problem spending money on. Father to teen, "I have a wife and child to take care of" ... given as an excuse directly to the teen. Teen says, "What am I, chopped liver." You shouldn't bad mouth someone on an anonymous forum who is helping your teen to become a stronger, more confident, more educated and caring person. I have 100% confidence in Dr. Hill.

Should a child's relationship with a parent become worse after several sessions...no but it did. Should the doctor encourage expensive life changes/trips/events and encourage the child to reach for them yet not mention planning or budgeting with parents to achieve these goals...no but she did and now the child blames the parents for not buying expensive items. And when you ask the Doctor, help her reach the stars but discuss financial planning when it involves money, your answer back from the doctor is, don't hold your daughter back let her live.
