Dr. Naeem Tariq Chavla, MD

I have been seeing Dr Chavla for over a year now and couldn't be happier. I initially self referred due to a problem with frequent urination. Dr Chavla diagnosed my problem as BPH and checked for cancer more than once during this time to ensure an early diagnosis if it came back positive. my first procedure was a Urolift (at my request) it seemed to work fairly well and I recovered quickly, unfortuantely after about 3 months my symptoms returned. I returned to Dr Chavla and we discussed Aquablatia surgery, it was more invasive but also more precise with lasting results. I had the procedure, the recovery was as expected and the result was amazing. I see many reviews that speak poorly of his bedside manner and communication or that of his staff. I have never been treated badly by anyone there and the Dr. was very professional. Granted the wait before your appointment can be a little long but people need to learn patience, he is after all the only doctor in the building.

I had TMT done for my BPH by Dr. Chavla and staff. My interaction with staff and the Dr. Has been great. I felt like one of the team making decisions on my health and treatment. Office staff was helpful and friendly, Med Techs and Nurses were great and the Dr. Was understanding and informative. Thank You

On 26 APR 2019 I went in to Dr. Chavalas office for Prostate reduction. They put me in the room where the procedure was going to take place and got me ready. There was some guy with a rude attitude and no bedside manner at all who was going to perform the task. All of a sudden I hear, here comes a little pressure and this instrument is shoved up my urethra and rammed through the portion of my urethra that was swollen shut by my prostate. I winced in pain (there is no sedative or anesthesia for this procedure). They also put a temperature probe in my anal cavity. They turned on the machine and I immediately began to shake and convulse to the point I thought I was going to come off the table. They let that go for about eight to ten minutes. The guy and the Dr. left the room and left a male nurse in charge of the machine. After about ten minutes they both came back in the room and observed my condition. Dr Chavala said to shut everything down and he left the room again. The… next thing I know is that I have a catheter in and I am told to get dressed and then I'm ushered back out to the waiting room. I have a follow-up with Dr Chavala on 01 May 2019 where he takes out the catheter and he tells me that I didn't tolerate the procedure and I was one out of a hundred that don't. I was sent on my way. On 03 MAY 2019 I was in the emergency room at 2:30 am because I could not urinate. I had another catheter put in. I called Dr. Chavalas office On Monday the 6th of may to let them know what happened. I was given an appointment on 09 MAY 2019 to see the Dr. He told me again that I didn't tolerate the procedure. He gave me a couple a prescriptions one for a (now) bladder infection and one for something else (not sure what it was for). At this appointment he had a women with a laptop in the room clattering away. I was told I was just going to have to leave the catheter in for another three or four weeks. I was then ushered out to the waiting room. I now have to go back to the office on 14 MAY 2019 to have my bladder tested to see if it is functioning correctly. My guess is that the instrument used was not positioned correctly and they either burned by urethra above my prostate or they burned the sphincter to my bladder.

I was super nervous about seeing him because of the poor reviews. His front office receptionist was caring and helpful when I called and when I was there for my appointment. Doc had something come up that caused us to wait 2 hours from the appointment time but he’s one of just a handful of urologists in the area so I completely understand. He was caring to his patients he saw before me, I could hear him taking his time. He took time to explain things to me and made me feel comfortable, was empathetic to the pain I was having much unlike the ER doc said I had seen in the previous weeks. He was straight and to the point. I would certainly keep coming to see him and his staff.

None of the complaints we have are with the doctor, but instead his terrible office staff, specifically the office manager, Kelly. The office staff tried to get money from us three times, for a deposit, co pays, and a deductible. When I tried talking to Kelly about what we were being told by our insurance, she was extremely rude and condescending, stating I didn’t know what a deductible was. Turns out, out of the $350 they tried getting from us, we only had to pay $50, because I WAS RIGHT and clearly understood that the deductible and one of the co payments was not something we had to pay based on our insurance. But not once did she apologize for screwing up, not once did she acknowledge that I was right and she argued with us for nothing, and if I hadn’t been as persistent as I was, she would have collected money they were NOT OWED by us! I find this billing practice very alarming and unethical, when you have a customer telling you their insurance is telling them something different… that you read online, I would think you would do a better job of investigating by speaking to the insurance before implying the customer is incompetent! At one point, in the midst of all this, I told her I didn’t want to speak with her anymore, because she was being rude and not listening and talking over me constantly, and that I wanted to speak to her (Kelly’s) manager. She told me she doesn’t have one, and when I asked to speak to Dr. Chavla, she flat out refused and HUNG UP ON ME. I was upset, but in no way abusive or inappropriate toward her in the phone to warrant being hung up! and when I called back and just tried to ask to leave a message for Dr. Chavla to call me back, she laughed and said I was never going to speak to Dr. Chavla. That he put her in charge and so I was stuck with her. She wouldnt give me an email address and the clinic is separate from kadlec, so there’s no one I can call to report her absurd behavior. The only option I supposedly had was to write him a letter about it. I have never in my life been treated to terribly by someone in a customer service position. We will never return to this facility and I will steer away all of our friends and family. All because of one office manager who thinks she can treat people however she wants and clearly gets away with it.

Scheduling is terrible. Waiting for 1.5 hours after the scheduled appointment before seeing the Dr is terrible.

I've been to see this doc three times, and find him professional, caring and personable. And his staff members are the same.

He makes you wait a LONG time. He will interrupt you and make you feel devalued. You have to repeat yourself over several times. And he thinks there isn't anything wrong with answering his cell phone in the middle of an exam and walk out of the room.

Went to see Dr Chavla to diagnose problem with blood in urine. Difficulties started at the front desk with his staff. They were very rude and demanded my SS number which I do not give out and then threatened that I would not be seen unless I gave it to them or give them a $250.00 deposit. When I finally gave them my SS number I was made to wait almost 2 hours before we were taken to the examining room. Then we waited another 45 minutes to 1 hour before Dr Chavla came in. Dr Chavla was not very attentive and seemed bothered by the questions that I had about my condition and would not listen to me. He is one of the worst doctors that I have ever been to and I will never go back to see him. Don't waste your time with this doctor because he will not give his time to you
