Dr. Nandini Anilkumar Patel, MD

Dr. Patel is an incredible psychiatrist! She always listened intently. She helped me feel like I was a real person, not a person that was a mental mess. I have been blessed to have been her patient. I have moved and will miss her greatly.

I had an appointment this morning and live all the way in the outer banks. 2 hour drive to get to the office without traffic. well today it was raining and i hit traffic due to an accident. i call the office to tell them that i am going to be 10 minutes late. i was already all the way in va beach, and i was told they couldn't see me. in addition i still would have to pay for the appointment. on top of that, the receptionist was incredibly rude. so all in all i drove a total of six hours only to pay for an appointment that never happened. when my appointments usually only last 10 minutes. needless to say i will not be going back, nor would i refer this practice to anyone. you would think a mental health practitioner would have a little more compassion.

We came in today for a rescheduled initial visit due to sickness the day of original appointment only to be turned away and denied service for anyone else in the practice! Is this because the man that I am supporting has a disability? Was he too old? This is NOT A GOOD SERVICE PROVIDER for loved ones or people you care about. I myself would not send anyone to this practice, they have no concern for people. Apparently we were suppose to be psychic and know that when we made the appointment months ago that he was going to wake up at 4 in the morning running from both ends. I called the morning of the appointment and told them of his sickness; it was ok'd and a new appointment was re-scheduled. Only to find out they can refuse him after doing nothing wrong. I even called today to confirm the appointment and nothing was said. He missed a full day of pay from work, but it's obvious that the time and finances of patients do not matter. I will tell everyone in my field of the disrespectful… "practice" and warn anyone who asks about a good and reliable place; and let them know this is not it.

Started out as good doctor then switched to someone totally different.

I have been a patient of Dr. Patelâ??s for several years. I was quite nervous about the idea of seeing a psychiatrist but Dr. Patel has been so wonderful that my nervousness did not last for long. She has helped me with my issue, which is primarily anxiety, so much. Dr. Patel is patient, kind and skilled at her work. She is also a very warm person with a great sense of humor. Most of my appointments take place during my lunch break from work, this is no problem because she is never late! The office staff is also very nice and when I had an issue with my insurance carrier they were happy to help me get the situation sorted out. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Patel to anyone who is looking for a good psychiatrist.
