Dr. Naomi L Huddlestone, MD

The thought of Dr. Huddlestone physically sickens me. She was my counselor, starting when I was 10 years old (I’m now 21). She fed my head with thoughts, ideas and feelings that completely alienated me against my father. Dr. Huddlestone twisted my father’s actions, based on my mother’s ugly agenda and issues, suggesting to me my dad’s parenting weren’t normal. For example, Dr. H told me it wasn’t normal for a father to attend school events or ask/or attempt to hug me. She manipulated my impressionable feelings, and got me to sign ugly letters to my dad. It’s taken me years and counseling by true professionals to realize the truth - My dad isn’t such a bad guy. And that my mother’s distain for my father isn’t normal. Sadly I’m now estranged from both my parents, my sick crazy mother by my choice, and my father due to Dr. Huddlestone. I recently heard Dr. Huddlestone is not longer counseling and harming others - THANK GOD!!

20 years later I can still remember focusing on her large legs in fancy, yet skin tight, slacks to keep from crying when she told me not to talk to anyone else about the sexual abuse. A decade later I learned in college about mandatory reporting & should have taken legal action but wasn’t strong enough yet. Too bad she retired before I could face off with her as a full grown survivor.

Dr. Huddlestone harm to my daughter and son are immeasurable. She became a trusted grandmother like figure to my kids and me. As a trusted counselor, she filled out heads with negative paranoia that has taken us years to dig out of. The damage to my kids’ father will take them years to work through. I rarely say I hate and totally distain anyone, but I say that about Dr. Huddlestone. I was so so happy to hear she finally retired recently. Long overdue and I regret not saying something sooner.

I saw Naomi Huddlestone when I was 14 and hoping to get help with some adolescent trauma. She filled our sessions with stories of her own children. Most of them I'd heard a dozen times by the time I stopped seeing her. I never felt seen, I never felt heard. She would regularly dismiss my fears and emotions with advice like, "If you have issues with your parents, threaten to run away." It took years to be able to trust a therapist again after seeing her.
