My family and I hold Dr. Tindel in the highest regard. He is technologically a superb surgeon. He performed an anterior and posterior spinal fusion on C5-6 due to the dislocation of cervical facets resulting from a fall. His manner is blunt, honest, humorous, patient, and reassuring at the same time. His residents and the care team in the Surgical ICU at Jacobi Hospital kept in close touch with him and our family throughout my husband’s inpatient stay. This was medical care at its best.

Dr Tindels explanation and transparency around my herniated disc issue helped me gain his trust immediately. I was seeing another orthopedic doctor for a year and having surgery never sat right because it was feeling forced with no clarity around my options. After my first visit with Dr Tindel I got a call from him the following week just to check how I was doing and that gesture alone made me knew I was doing the right thing switching doctors. Dr Tindel earned my trust and would end up doing my surgery, relieving me of a years long battle with a bulging disc in my L5-S1 area. I’m a mother of two young boys and I’m very happy that after my full recovery I can truly enjoy my time at home with my family again. Awesome Doctor!!! They don't make doctors like this no more. He flew in from his vacation and met me in the emergency room and made sure I was comfortable for surgery the next day. Which he rearraigned his schedule to perform. I would highly recommend him! PS he stopped by the hospital on his day off to see how I was doing. :)

Awesome Back Surgeon!! He is truly amazing!! His back surgery 4 years ago was fantastic after I had a horrible surgery by another doctor that left me in more pain then before the surgery. Since I have curvature of the spine, I developed new back problems. He was able to arrange for me to get an MRI ASAP. Based on the MRI, I need surgery in 3 locations. He showed and discussed with me the MRI, gave me several options including not having surgery, and he let me make the decision regarding the surgery without forcing me to do anything. Dr. Tindel is also very sweet and caring, and is reachable 7 days a week. I So Highly Recommend Him!!

Dr. Tindel is a rare find and a true patient advocate. He listens, more than I have ever seen in a doctor, is thorough, and is never rushed. I have had two surgeries with him, with excellent results. He has solved two unique back problems of mine with success, problems that I had seen numerous other doctors about. Each appointment he does a physical exam, reviews the MRI with you, and ensures your symptoms correlate with what is seen on the MRI. He assumes nothing, verifies every component, and treats each case as unique. He is accessible anytime you have questions, and calls you back on weekends and evenings to ensure all your questions are answered. He has not lost sight of why he went into this field, he is dedicated to helping others and takes each case very personally. He is a unique surgeon as he wrote a book on how 80% of back pain can be solved non-surgically. The fact that a surgeon wrote a book to help patients avoid unnecessary surgery says it all. He is a true patient advocate, and couples that with deep knowledge and expertise. That is a rare combination. I cannot recommend him more highly!

What a fantastic surgeon and good human being. No muss, no fuss. Dr. Tindel was very matter-of-fact; explained everything in jargon free style; gave a conservative yet optimistic prognosis; never rushed me through an office visit; listened to what I had to say! I can't say enough good things about him and his office staff. My cervical spine laminectomy and fusion was a complete succes and allowed me to return to a very active life style. I highly recommend him.

After visiting with many doctors with no results. Dr. Tindel has made a great difference for my husband who have suffered with pain for years. I started my search for a Spine Surgeon by finding the most qualified I could on paper and then we interviewed each other. I cannot even begin to tell you how fortunate I am to have met Dr. Tindel recommended to me by my Physiatrist. I kid you not, Dr. Tindel spent over an hour with me the first time we met, first by listening, then examination, only then followed by reading the MRI to confirm his opinion. Dr. Tindel then thoroughly educated me in laymen's terms as to the cause and effect of my condition as well as sharing the prognoses, clearly explaining what the surgery will do, making sure to explain that does not guarantee that the symptoms would go away at a specific time if at all, but I was well informed and educated by an individual that clearly cares. I am an extremely active 60 year old that went to Dr. Tindel sharing the desire to get me back on the ice playing hockey, skiing, rowing and just enjoying everyday hikes. I had herniated my L5/S1 disc and although remained… active I had started getting paralysis of my left foot along with hamstring and calf issues. I went through the proper protocol of PT, anti-inflammatory, both block and epidural injections before being told to seek the opinion of a surgeon. Yesterday I was happy to share with Dr. Tindel at my 10 week follow up that I have walked over 150 miles, swam over 30 miles and most recently since the six week mark started to circuit train again and row. If not for Covid I would have started playing hockey again in my men's league as well. Thank you for everything Dr. Tindel, I have regained the strength I had lost and have been pain free literally from the days immediately following the surgery. Dr. Tindel has an amazing staff as well, from Annie up front to Naomi helping with the insurance process in the back. Five Stars is not enough and a Simple Thank You is not enough!
