Dr. Neeraj Bhushan, MD

I can only say that without MD Bhushan I would not be here today. He diagnosed that I had cancer when no one else did. I was in the hospital for two weeks and seen by every type of specialist there is. They diagnosed me with an enlarged heart and prescribed me some medicine and a diet. To show you the kind of man MD Bhushan is he poured over all the test results and the diagnosis, on his own time at night taking time away from his family. He felt there was one more test that needed done and after being in the hospital for two weeks the last thing I wanted to do was to go back in again. That said if MD Bhushan was asking me to do it I knew it was important. That test he ordered, that all the doctors and specialists missed, is what saved my life. It revealed that I had stage III cancer. I am in remission and convinced the only reason I am here today is because of this great doctor. As if once wasn’t enough he detected a second type of cancer years later. A single visit, a… touch of his hand detected the new cancer. He made a few phone calls got me in that day to a surgeon who agreed with his assessment for immediate surgery. A malignant tumor was found and removed. I know no greater man than MD Bhushan he is my hero for life! You will not find this kind of doctor he is one in a million.

Dr. Bhushan told me I should get a check of my sedimentation rate. When I went in for the blood test, I told the people clearly what I was there for, and they drew the blood. A week later they called to say the blood test was OK. But when my lab bill came in, I saw they had tested for a number of other things, but had not done the test I needed - the sed rate. This was upsetting to me, because it showed that Dr. Bhushan wasn’t paying attention to what was going on. An internist is supposed to be the guy who sees the big picture, but he seemed unable to correctly order a test that he had recommended himself. I called Dr. Bhushan and told him this was unacceptable, and that I didn’t think I could continue to have him as my doctor. He became angry and defensive, and asked me if I had ever made a mistake myself. Yes, Doctor, I have made many mistakes, but there is an important difference between you and me. I am not a very important person, and so my mistakes are far less… consequential than yours. That’s why you carry malpractice insurance and I don’t. I can’t trust my health to someone who doesn’t have my confidence.

I had a very bad experience visiting Doctor Neeraj Bhushan's clinic. I went to him for my yearly medical check and was recommended some vitamins and his office was supposed to send prescription to my Pharmacy but they never did that. Inspite of me calling and visiting his clinic again all medicines were not sent. I asked him specifically for ultrasound to check if I have kidney stones as I had those before and wanted to make sure I don't have it now but was never recommended a scan during my yearly medical checkup and guess what...after around 20 days I started getting pain in my stomach during my travel which was due to stones. I went to doctor Bhushan again for checkup and I was asked to get my scan done. His office sent me without appointment to reston hospital to get my scan done and when i went there, they were annoyed with me and doctor Bhushan for visiting them without appointment. I got my tests done on tuesday and my report was sent to Doctor bhushan on priority on the… same day. I didn't hear from doctor Bhushan and called his office to ask about my report on Wednesday and they informed me that they have got the report and will call me for appointment. Meanwhile I was still having pain everyday. I didn't hear from doctor Bhushan and went to them after 3 days i.e. Friday. Doctor Bhushan was not in office and his staff gave me the report after checking with him on phone. I was asked to talk to Doctor Bhushan on phone and he informed me that I have got several stones in my gall bladder and should visit a surgeon to get it removed. I was not recommended any pain killers and for those who don't know about kidney stones. Pain for kidney stones is very bad and pain killers for it are not available over the counter and has to be prescribed by a doctor.

My family and I have been going to Dr. Bhushan for at lease 10 years and have always been impressed by his ability to diagnose quickly and accurately. His experience and training are apparent. I find his instructions to be detailed and clear. He is also easy to talk to.

Bhushan does not call you back. His nurses do not call you back. No, not even to discuss blood work results or at least tell you if they are normal or not. He is rushed through appts and spends one foot outside the door. 8 minutes with him after waiting 1.5 hours with the front desk chatting away. Billing manager is not well informed. Bhushan essentially sees you, bills $300-400 for a few minutes, then just disappears on you like a charlatan.

Dr. Bhushan has been my family doctor for over three decades. His attentiveness and empathy during consultations is superb. Br B's diagnoses have been on the mark and the treatments ordered commensurate with what the situation demands. A very accomplished medical professional!

Be careful if you need an annual physical exam. They had blood tests run that were not covered by BCBS and now I'm stuck with hundreds of dollars in fees for unnecessary blood tests.

Direct but sympathetic approach; considers the not so obvious diagnosis as well. Works for me

Dr. B is a very competent, caring health care professional...the best internist I have consulted.

Bad practice even after 30yr of practice. Only running from one patient to another. Staff is more worse, staff talks about patients problems outside the patient room.If you talk about more than one problem Dr. will tell you I don't have time today ,in hurry have to see other patients.Poor diagnosis as well.
