Dr. Nicholas Michael Wetjen, MD

I saw Dr. Wetjen because of severe pain from an accident. He spent roughly 2 minutes reviewing my MRI. He asked some basic areas of pain and symptoms questions and had me raise my toes & heels, even though I was in a great deal of pain with minimal mobility but I complied as best as I could, causing more pain. He referred me to pain management for injections. No explanation of the MRI findings or why surgery wasn’t considered. After a total of 5-6 minutes, he started walking out of the room, as he told me to come back in 3 months. Didn’t ask if I had any questions or other concerns. Extremely frustrating!

His bed side manner is absolutely terrible.

I wouldn’t recommend this man to anybody. If you want to be treated like crap, he’s a good fit for ya.

Dr Wetjen spent time in the exam room with us, talked to us at length, listened to what we had to say and presented us with realistic options. We came in expecting honesty and compassion and that's what we got, from him and his awesome staff. The Iowa Clinic should be proud!

I have never had more problems with my son then I did when he was under Dr Wetjen's care, Thanks to all the other Drs who managed to keep my son alive!!!!

THE BEST NEUROSURGEON, I WAS SCARED TO DEATH, HE ASSURED ME I WULD MAYBE HAVE SOME WEAKNESS IN MY LEFT SIDE, DOING GREAT, WENT HOME THE 3RD DAY AFTER A MAJOR BRAIN TUMOR REMOVAL. 9 DAYS OUT, AM FEELING GOOD.THANK GOD FOR SENDING DR WETJEN TO ME...

He made a huge impact on my life since he removed my stage two astrocytoma when I had just turned 14 years old. This was a scary experience but he took great care and even visited me in the recovery room after surgery to check in on how I was doing. Now I am older and pursuing my dream career at college and I cannot thank him enough.

Excellent doctor, very confident in his work, surgery was extrememly successful! Had to open him up 5inches or so from the neck straight up. Just shaved a line where he where the insicion is! Can hardly tell, healed well...wonderful care! Best Neuro-surgeon hands down!

Dr. Wetjen has been the most amazing doctor we have ever experienced. His bedside manners are unbelievable and he LISTENS to what the family has to say which ranks high with us. He saved our 5 month olds life through his surgeries and has always put what we are concerned about first. I couldn't have ever imagined Dr. Wetjen to be so down to earth but yet brilliant all at the same time. We will always come see Dr. Wetjen and will always be in debt to him for saving our son. Very much recommended I would never go any where else! He has been absolutely amazing. We feel lucky to have him as our son's neurosurgeon.
