Dr. Nikola Ragusa, MD

I went to this office for a visit where I was told by the Dr. Nikola Ragusa that I would need laser surgery to solve the problem I encountered. I accepted and asked if my insurance would cover the cost of the surgery and they confirmed yes. A few days before the operation I called the office to further verify that my insurance paid the expenses and I was reconfirmed yes. I was given two appointments for laser surgery, one for the left eye and the other for the right eye. When I asked why two different surgeries instead of doing everything in one day I was told that it was the insurance company that wanted to split the two surgeries. After having the surgery I was given an appointment a month later for a check-up. When I arrived for the check-up, a month after the surgery, they gave me a bill for 1200 dollars ( for two different surgeries ) and they told me that if I hadn't paid at that moment they wouldn't have given me the visit. I was told that my insurance had approved and would… pay for my medical care. No one ever contacted me before or after the surgery to notify me of the payment. This is all unprofessional and absurd. and above all he refused to give me a check up and verify that what he did to me was done correctly.

I started with dr.ragusa In Nassau at a big practice when I went to him I was diagnosed with glaucoma and I need laser right away. I was so scared on that day. He made me feel very comfortable he's very presentable very kind friendly to both my husband and I. He then moved to the bronx and I loved him so both as a doctor n person, that I have followed him to the bronx where he's at now,I dont mind the trip from Suffolk county I think he's worth that and more. I would like to say his office is clean ,he looks like he's a model always clean and practice excellent hygiene. His assistant Joel is great n for the most part his staff up front are good too.

Going to a doctor is always a scary experience. One filled with anxiety about what the diagnosis is and how you will be treated. To have someone talk to you on a personable level is all we really want from our health care professionals. Dr. Ragusa was perfect for me and from what I've seen in the office he's great to all of his patients and staff. I will recommend him to everyone.

He was recommended by a close friend. I was not disappointed! I had to travel quite a bit to see him but it was worth it. Very caring gentleman.

Excellent ophthalmologist. Very caring, attentive, and always puts the patient first. Understanding to build a plan together with the patient.

Great guy and super staff! I enjoyed the visit so much I'm sending my family to see him.

I called the office this morning and they put me through right away without waiting through a long robo-call. Once in the office, I was seen within 20-30 minutes of my appointment time! I was treated by a great staff and the doctor spent time talking to me and explained all that was going on. I felt reassured and they even gave me the drops that I needed, saving me a trip to the pharmacy.
