Dr. Omar H Akhtar, MD

Dr. Akhtar is probably the most compassionate doctor I have seen in many, many years, maybe ever. He is also meticulous in ensuring everything goes well and is done right. He welcomed the barrage of questions I had prior to my hip surgery. He eagerly answered them all (and I had a whole page full of them). On different occasions while getting lab work done, etc. I was able to find out from hospital staff what they thought of him. Every single person said he was one of the best and most meticulous surgeons they had worked with. As for compassion, he called me the night prior to my surgery to see if I had any questions and was doing okay. Of course, I saw him in pre op and after surgery. However, he also called me about 6-7 days later (and just before my 2 week appt. with him) to see how recovery seemed to be going, what was I experiencing and feeling. I had a small setback around 4 weeks post op and I called his voicemail to leave a message about it. Within 30 seconds he… was calling me back from his car and asked me to meet him at his office. He saw me right away and took care of the issue. He also called me a few days later to see how I was doing. Many patients end up just seeing a Physician's Assistant at their follow up appts. or answering their phone calls. Not with Dr. Akhtar. You always get him at all your appts. The office of Capitol City Orthopedics isn't overbooked either. It's just two doctors, and they do not double book appts. In the year that I've been seeing him, the waiting room is never busy, with just one or two patients at the most. Thus the wait time is usually short. Also, Dr. Akhtar will not rush to the decision of surgery either. He will suggest and work with you on all options possible before making the final decision that you need surgery. I currently have a perfect right hip replacement and am looking forward to my left replacement soon.

Dr Omar Akhtar is a compassionate and skilled practitioner who went over all to diagnose and treat my medical issues. He was so encouraging, yet direct about my responsibility to manage my own healing and recovery.

front desk staff should answer phone more courteously and introduce themselves when taking the patient back to the room or greeting you at front desk surgery scheduler Sarah is allittle abrupt, needs to approach patient like she enjoys her job and is thankful for your choice of their office- disappointed in her mannerisms

Dr. Aktar is the best. His bedside manner is far beyond excellent!

Could not have been better! Maybe not being on the third floor of the building would have made it easier to get into the office.
