Dr. Owita Renee Mays, MD

she would not give me the results of my test when I asked her ( she was looking at my chart on the computer at the time), she asked if I had MY CHART , my answer was yes but I don't look at it. Dr. Mays told me to have the lady at the front desk to take my name off MY CHART. She had to change my blood pressure meds three times because I had an allergic reaction to them, so she didn't give me another script for my blood pressure, she said I didn't have high blood pressure but it was stress. What doctor does that! I been on blood pressure medicine for years. Wrong doctor for me!

I was seen by Dr. Mays after being told I needed to have a follow up appointment with her. I was not made aware that I was needing to see a specialist BEFORE the follow up appointment and was charged over $600 to be told there was nothing she could do until I had seen the specialist. Nothing was done yet I was charged an outrageous fee. She is a good doctor, but that should have been handled better.

I was so impressed. She definitely put doctors, don’t have bedside manners any longer to rest.

I �� Dr. Mays! She actually takes time to assess, listen, as well as counsel as needed WITHOUT making you feel insignificant or rushed! It is apparent she genuinely care about the overall greater health of her patients!

I like Dr. Mays. She's friendly and concerned about my health. She also has spent time discussing routes I could take to make myself a healthier person and thereby living a happier life. I never felt as though Dr. Mays was "pushing" prescriptions on me as mentioned in some of the other comments. I guess the problem with online commentary is that more sides, perceptions, and layers always exist...

I was saw Dr Mays after having a mini stroke which I was taken by ambulance to the hospital then transferred downtown by ambulance to a bigger hospital and was trying to follow up with a primary. Dr Mays told me it was all in my head. She said I needed to go to counseling and pushed pushed pushed to put me on anti depressants after I told her no multiple times. I need to find the underlying cause for my mini stroke so I don't have another ..... not dull my brain senses. I would not recommend her and at another dr office .... Sometimes having to pay more out of pocket is worth it.

Dr. Mayes is obsessed with writing everything in the computer to the point that she never came near me during either of the 2 visits I had with her. After only seeing me 2 times and never getting close enought to me to even shake my hand, she declaired that all of my symptoms were in my head and I needed to see a shrink. Needless to say I'm getting another Dr. It is important to note that the only reason I went back a 2nd time was because I needed my blood pressure pills refilled because she had only filled them for 3 months the first time!

Dr. Mays is very thorough. She wants to be sure she doesn't miss anything. She doesn't guess at a diagnosis but runs the necessary tests to determine it accurately. If she doesn't know, she isn't afraid to say so & will suggest a 2nd opinion from another doctor by referal or your choice. I find her very dedicated & genuinely concerned for her patients. She has been one of the best doctors I've ever seen. And I've seen many over the course of years.

Dr. Mays and the Memphis Medical Specialists are very professional and they have helped me tremendously with my medical concerns over the last couple of years.
