Dr. Parul Jaikrishna Shukla, MD

I had an emergency surgery right after I had cancer surgery on another body part. I was in the hospital for weeks. He is wonderful. Now I need to reverse the surgery and he is being kind and patient. Highly recommend

The whole practice is very bad mannered, the scheduling is a mass. I can't believe Weill Cornell would associate itself with a doctor and a practice like this

I’ve had better visits at the veterinarian and I wasn’t even the patient. If you’re a woman forget about him. I had the most humiliating, disrespectful examination of my life with this person. I was requested to show up early for my first appointment with Dr. Shukla during a freak snowstorm about a month ago. He wanted to get home early. After waiting 45 minutes after the big rush to his office, I was greeted by a young Doctor Who had his back to me while staring at a computer screen. It was filled with information that was over a decade old and none of my current test results which were done at Weill Cornell Radiology were available. Neither was my prior history with details of surgeries and medications. Considering the fact that this is such a high tech super modern facility this was very curious. The doctor did not bother to update my information and when Dr. Shukla finally walked in and asked me why I was there I had to retrieve all of this information from… memory. He barely listened to my reasons for my visit and would not access my test results which would have been informative as they had been ordered by a colorectal surgeon. Several years earlier I had a total rectal prolapse which required surgery. I now had a possible recurrence which turned out to be something called a rectocele on the test results which he never bothered to access. I was fully clothed on the examination table with several layers due to the inclement weather. Dr. Shukla said well I will examine you which I questioned since I was laying there completely dressed. He said:” pull down your pants! “ I have never in my life had a color rectal or gynecological exam without a gown or sheet to cover the fact that I had already undressed which is standard procedure. I lay there on a hard examination table on my left side fully clothes except for my pants and tights around my knees. I have never felt so exposed or embarrassed in my life and just about got up and left the office. After a cursory exam he said he could not determine the problem although I had shown him photographs of the problem which had occurred on at least half a dozen occasions within six weeks. He totally ignored the photos and said well you’ll have to come back when it happens. Of course this is ridiculous because you don’t just show up for an appointment when something like this happens and you might be God knows where when it occurs. I wound up seeing a different color rectal surgeon at the same hospital. Dr. Kelly Garrett was attentive and curious and understood exactly what I was describing to her. I now have an appointment with yet another surgeon, a urogynecologist at the same hospital. I actually contacted the hospital to complain about my experience with Dr. Shukla and got absolutely nowhere. I got one call back and was told I would be contacted by someone else but it never happened. I have since read reviews of Dr. Shukla and they have been far from stellar. I would never recommend this man to any living creature. He has the bedside manner of a Neanderthal!

During a very stressful period Dr. Shukla proved to be extremely competent, reliable, responsible, attentive and humble. Could not have asked for more. Feel fortunate to have found him.

He wasn't able to help me and I went to another surgeon who was able to easily fix my problem

Absolutely terrible surgeon...and don't even think about calling him on the weekend...even an emergency...he's all about the money!

He is very unprofessional, very poor surgeon and terrible bedside manner...probably only in it for the money...avoid!

This doctors is heartless and his primary concern is about making himself money.

Dr. Shukla has been exceptional. Very caring and patient. Made the surgery process easy for me as I had lots of anxiety about the procedure. A true blessing

This doctor is very comforting, knowledgeable and kind. I was lucky to find him.
