Dr. Patrick John Shea, MD

Dr Patrick Shea is the first of more than 15 Physicians, that I have seen in the past 20 years, to diagnose my condition. He sat down & listened to every detail that I gave him. Other doctors stated that it was beyond their area of expertise. Leaving me suffering for all these years. I had been to 3 hospital in 2 weeks on emergency, suspecting a heart attack. These Hospitals could not figure this out, they knew something was wrong, but had no idea what it was. I had High Blood pressure one moment low the next, Heart palpitations, PVCs, Chest Pain, Nausea, Headache, Back Pain, Arm Pain. The Hospitals have always sent me home undiagnosed. Dr Shea figured it out within about 20 min of conversation & a few simple tests in the room. He listened to my heart intensely, while lying down & standing up. I am Forever Grateful to him!!! My mom is 90 years old. She required a visit with a cardiologist urgently and Dr Shea was the only one available. All her symptoms were explained including a drop in blood pressure with any activity. He never took her blood pressure, never listened to her heart, insisted she has vertigo, and repeated, "well you are 90 years old". Just didn't feel a sincere effort to understand and listen.

He was incredibly thorough. It didn't matter that he was running a little late. At the end of one visit he seemed to know more about me than other physicians I had known for years. I also liked his attitude. It was never a "top down" approach. He would explain his thoughts and reasons for making his recommendations. He would discuss other options and why he would not pursue them. I always felt that I was an active part of the decision process but never in the presence of anyone but a true expert. I have been with him for several years now and my impression has only grown. I would recommend him highly.BMR

He diagnosed my problem after it had been missed by several other physicians. He took a very detailed history and reviewed extensive records that I brought with me in my presence. Just by talking to me he confirmed the real diagnosis and noted that the lab testing was not perfect and in my case was simply wrong. I have followed up with him regularly for some time now. I find him to be caring and has a delightful sense of humor.
