Dr. Paul Duane Mckernan

Simply amazing in every way!

I miss Dr Mckernan! I recommend the office to my friends still. Dr Folkestad and Dr Mckernan are top notch. There is a reason wait times are so long.

Most calming and caring doctor ever. He was so nice and was there for my delivery and encouraging. I would recommend him to all. He is worth the wait for appointments.

Great man! Delivered all 4 of my children. He was very caring and did a great job. (Doesn't have the best office staff and nurse but I really like him!)

I have been a patient for years, but forget about getting in to see Dr. McKernan he is way too busy these days. I had to see Dr Austin. They lost my file, scheduled the wrong type of visit, had no idea how to do anything and never gave me instructions or followed up after I had a Uterine biopsy. Usually meds are given to help with pain, but they had nothing there. the assistants were completely brain dead and just stood there while the doctor did the biopsy. I felt very uncomfortable with these two girls staring at me. They did not try to comfort me during this horrible procedure nor did they help the doctor in any way. Then the tech doing th ultrasound had no idea how to do it and could not get a reading. I am a cash pay and they expected me to pay for the ultra sound even though they could not get a reading! I am switching doctors as soon as I can somehow get my medical history that the have so conveiniently lost! HORRIBLE Spare yourself the humiliation from this… undertrained, unorganized, staff with no empathy or caring for the patients that allow them to keep their jobs.

I encourage you to look in the arizona supreme court under civil lawsuits and see all that Dr Mckernan has failed to as a Dr. He is not skilled enough for laporscopic procdures. He admitted to learning Laporscopic procedures in a weekend seminar. For 2 days my family waiting in ICU wondering if I was going to live or not. It is now over 2yrs and I still have intestinal issure since he punctured my colon 2x. I have been admitted into the hospital several times now with partial bowell obstuction and now they are doing test to see if I have Chrons disease due to all the scaring and adhesions that where created from Dr McKernan's screw up. My daughter who is now 5 is scared of the hospital and everything related to them. I can only hope and pray for you that you research your Dr and think twice before seeing Dr McKernan.

I urge everyone to review all the malpractice cases that Dr McKernan has had against him on the Arizona supreme court website. Then decide if you still want a Dr like that to do surgery on you.Yes his bedside manner are great but isn't your life worth more than that? Please review his cases and choose another OB/GYN there are so many great Dr's out there, please don't risk your life as I nearly died from Dr McKernan's simple surgery!

This office is terrible at getting you in and out. His PA, Sue has terrible bedside manners and is extremely rude. We have waited over 2 hours for an appointment in this office. Dr. McKernan is great once he comes and makes you feel good and forget about how much it took just to see him...until the next appointment. We had nothing but problems in getting an appointment to induce labor. We were suppose to have a medical inducement but they put us on elective and waited 3 extra days. Go to Thunderbird Hospital, I have had friends have their babies over there because of the long wait times and hurry up and wait staff at Dr. McKernan's office.

If you want a low-intervention, patient doctor for your Lamaze or Bradley style hospital birth, look no further!! After my first four children were born, my previous OB retired, and I had to find a new doc. The first guy I went to, I had some problems with, and ended up changing doctors at 30 weeks. I called a midwife I know, and she regularly refers patients of hers to Dr. McKernan. He did not pressure or rush me when I wanted a NO intervention birth -- no inducing, no meds, no Pitocin, no rush to break my water... There was even a five hour time span when I was stuck at 8 cm, when most doctors would be pushing Pitocin, which I did not want at all. Only then did he suggest that maybe he should break my water. But, right then, I went into transition and literally 15 minutes later had a baby. He's a GREAT doctor, very friendly, very kind, great bedside manner, funny, upbeat, seems highly principled... you couldn't ask for a better OB.

He's the best! He alays is there for me and I may have to wait a while to see him but if I am in a hurry I can see the PA or NP. He is awsome.
