Dr. Paula Maria Mendes, MD

My first visit w Dr. Mendes I was overjoyed at the thought I found a neurologist that cared about my health. My 2nd appointment was virtual and the words she said to me suggested either 1) she is incompetent or 2) she is a callous and uncaring individual. I'm 61 and have had migraines for 51 years and have seen a lot of doctors. I cried for 2 days. Never again will I pay someone to treat me so poorly. Do. Not. See. This. Doctor.

After 30 days to get an appt with Dr. Mendes, she diagnosed and helped me with my problem right away and prescribed some medication that helped me quite a bit and gave me relief. I was very thankful for that. We scheduled follow up visits that over a two year period of time seemed to be just a money grab for her. Every visit would be shorter and shorter and more rushed than before but the suggestion would be to come back for another follow up visit. More than once, I would hear her come down the hall, grab my chart, come in the room and ask me about my condition, a condition that I didnt have. Did she even have the correct chart? She was pleasant to deal with but it always felt rushed and non essential. The front desk was pleasant but the billing department was another matter. There was a mix up with auto pay and changing of my insurance and a payment was delayed and late unbeknownst to me. I never heard from them and I thought it was auto paid and they were waiting for… payment. When I called to make another appointment because my symptoms had changed, the solution to this mix up was to drop me as a patient. Drop me over $65... I thought that was ridiculous and when I tried to make it right, I called the office and Dr Mendes was consulted and I was refused. I was ok with this because at least I wouldn't be feeling like a cash cow anymore. I think she is at the point where she is very overwhelmed with patients.

Dr Menges is in my opinion and from our appointments a neglectful and I suspect lazy doctor. She doesn't listen to her patients in good detail and/or just plain gets facts wrong. She is not very supportive of her patients and in my case prescribed medications that complicated/worsened my symptoms. Even though she has impeccable references, her care does not reflect it. Her bedside manner is standoffish and cold. A 2-5min appointment her was standard, yet I'd get charged for a 20-30 minute appointment. Her documentation was somewhat accurate but neglectful in details. When asked about my condition by third parties, she got the details all wrong. This is not a doctor you want be responsible for your neurological care. Stay Away.

I've been to several neurologists to address my Parkinson's disease. I met with Dr. Mendes and she is one of the best (if not THE best) in Colorado. She is compassionate, understanding, really listens but most of all, VERY knowledgeable. She gave me a very complete exam and answered all my questions extremely well. She clearly wants what's best for me. I look forward to my follow up in 2 months.

Saw Dr. Mendes at Boulder Medical Center. What a pleasure. Most thorough neuro exam I've ever had. Plus, great patient interaction.

I went to Dr. Mendes with a couple of different problems. She listened attentively and tested me thoroughly. She was kind and patient. Dr. Mendez is clearly very knowledgeable and also caring. I feel that I am in good hands.

Dr Mendez is an excellent neurologist. My appointment lasted a full hour. She addressed my Parkinson’s issues as well as having me perform some exercises. She also addressed my dementia issues with some questions. She recommended physical therapy and blood tests. She was extremely thorough. I highly recommend her.

Excellent first appointment. Dr Mendes did a thorough initial evaluation and came up with a great plan going forward to address my issues. I could tell she really cared about my issues and I was just not another patient passing through. I was her last appointment of the day when most doctors are tiring from the day and just want to be done, she took extra time to answer all my questions. Highly recommend.

Dr. Mendes is everything you could want in a physician. She is thorough, caring and precise. Excellent staff as well.
