Dr. Paula Peeden, MD

I agree with Angela and Frustrated. Although Dr. Peeden's bedside manner has always been extremly warm and caring. I too think the pelvic exams are lacking- I'm just too embarrassed to speak up and really hate to chagne dr.s since I have been seeing her for over 20 years. There have been many instances were the exam room wait was too long due to emergencies and the staff are not that pleasant. Dr. Peeden takes time to speak with me and seems to really care- so I hate to let a few little things upset the apple cart, but now I am very concerned about those pelvic exams- she's the only GYN I have ever used.

Dr. Peeden is the warmest, most approachable doctor I've ever known. I'm completely confident in her knowledge and judgement.

I'm almost 60 years old and I've had many Pap/pelvic exams. My Pap/pelvic exam by Dr. Paula Peeden was by far the worse ever. She put one finger inside my vagina and never moved it even once to examine anything. Then while her one finger was inserted motionless she very lightly pushed on my stomach from my belly button down then told me "everything is fine" and the exam was over. I could have put more pressure on my stomach with my pinky finger. I couldn't leave her office fast enough. I have another Pap/pelvic test scheduled with another doctor because I want a thorough exam. I chose Dr. Peeded because of her rating on this site but I'm very disappointed with the exam and I'm surprised that her rating is so high. She was a pleasant person but exams like the one I received are dangerous.

Dr. Peeden was dismissive when I had questions, follow up with scheduling further testing was horrible and extremely long. Phone calls were not returned, refill requests were ignored. I was having a real problem and it didn't seem like she cared or was concerned at all. I have now found a new doctor. It's a shame too, bc I was a patient for many years and finally when I needed more than an annual visit, I've had enough. Oh, and she missed a diagnosis. This is probably easy to do, however if she had been more attentive, I would have found it more believable that it just wasn't evident at the time. Staff is extremely rude.

Dr. Peeden herself is very nice and a good doctor overall. I think that's why I put up with her office staff for so long. The really loud receptionist is gone. However, I still never felt like privacy was a huge priority in the office. For example, the nurse left the exam room door cracked open while taking my medical history (asking personal questions!), "in case the doctor needed her." Sometimes, I felt like my appointments were rushed, and usually, I waited in the exam room for a really long time (an hour on more than one occasion). I learned to bring a book to read. Dr. Peeden always apologized, saying that an emergency had come up. It would have been a huge coincidence for that to have been true every time, though. I'm going elsewhere now.

Dr.Peeden is so caring and excellent care of her patients.

My daughter recommended Dr. Peeden to me 5 years ago when I moved to this area. I have found her to be compassionate and professional. I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes in the waiting room nor in the exam room. She has be very thorough. She takes time to have a two way discussion with you to talk about any concerns you have. I have recommended her to several of my friends.
