My son failed the public school eye exam as both a kindergartener and a 1st grader - both times I took him to be checked by Dr. Famigietti, and both times was assured he was fine. When my son failed the test again in 2nd grade I looked for a different doctor - my son had such a bad astigmatism in his right eye that his brain was starting to shut down his sight in that eye. If the condition had been caught when he was younger it could have been totally corrected, but that was no longer possible by the time he was 7 and he will always have less than 20/20 vision in that eye. The new doctor came to SE CT from the New York Eye Institute and is ranked one of the best in the state. Famiglietti is incompetent. I should have filed a complaint against him and may yet, but at least I can warn anyone reading this review.

This is about his office staff. Mary Ann and Dian were both the rudest office persons I spoke to when they had to cancel and reschedule my appointment. They were not helpful at all but extremely disrespectful. They ruined my day completely with their rude attitude. It’s a shame Dr. Famiglitti has them.

I have eye-pain. He insisted it was simply dry-eye and I was to use Restasis and if it didn't work, to then get punctal plugs in addition to the Restatsis. I said how about trying frequent artificial tears to ee if that works (not that my eyes felt dry...), but he said it would have to be used every minute or two (this makes no sense, I later learned). After several months on Restasis w/o any clear effect, he added the plugs to stop tear ducts from taking in moisture. After put in, one of them irritated me. I looked in the mirror and saw that on was protruding out, while the other wasn't. I made another appnt. He said it was in fine, and I'd not be able to see it from looking at it in a mirror. He wanted me to get used to it. But, it got worse and worse. It became painful and was even more protruding. And, I didn't even notice any benefit, anyway. Eventually I took it out myself, then returned for another appnt. Before saying how I took it out, he was examining me and… said it is still in there properly. WHAT?!?!?!? It was out and in a bag. Yet, he was insistent. How can an eye doctor make such poor and totally false statements about what he sees? Aftermath: I ended up removing the other one, too. I eventually got a clearer diagnosis and plan and am doing better today. I also found out Restasis is *NOT* to be used with punctal plugs. He went against what he's supposed to do when he did that (check for more info. on this to confirm with even the manufacturer of Restasis who's drug is FDA approved).

Conducted the most thorough eye exam I have ever had. Takes time to listen to what the patient says. A real nice guy who makes you feel very comfortable.
