Dr. Philip Ente, MD

From the moment I walked into the office I felt welcome. The front desk was warm and friendly. Dr. Ente took ample time to understand what I was experiencing with my migraines and was attentive to my concerns (he was also patient that I had my 4 year old daughter with me). I, of course was fearing the worst, but he reassured me that I was going to be okay. At the end of the visit, he let me know he was going to be out of town next week and gave me his cell phone number to call and let him know how I was doing. (A doctor giving their cell number now-a-days is unheard of!) I left feeling heard and confident that we were going to figure out and eliminate my migraines so I can return to my life and the things I love!

My wife and I both have seen Dr. Ente . If there was a rating lower than "Poor" I would give it to him.

When my husband and I moved here one of our first tasks was to find my husband a neurologist. We came from the San Francisco Bay Area and were used to excellence in our medical care. My husband had already been confirmed as having Parkinson's disease. When we saw Dr. Ente his only comment was that my husband needed better shoes. What? We were expecting him to read the other doctor's notes. He didn't do that and he didn't examine my husband. He only made the off-the-wall comment about shoes. My husband and I were both disgusted and never returned. We found a wonderful neurologist in Santa Barbara which means we had to travel 50 miles but it was worth it. Dr. Ente gives medicine a bad name - and I guess he's still at it.

I was referred to Dr. Ente to get a second opinion for a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. I sat in his office while he did a short physical exam where he promptly explained I did not have multiple sclerosis. To make me feel better he ordered an EEG and an MRI. The MRI went fine and I got the same results as previous. I went to go get an EEG. To get this test done I had to travel 30 minutes. Once we got to the hospital Dr. Ente disregarded calls from the hospital regarding the tests and my voice mails. We needed his verification. By this time I was in tears from frustration and fear. The hospital decided that even though dr. Ente was neglecting his patient they weren't going to so they decided to follow through with the EEG. A couple days later Dr Ente had somebody call me to tell me he would no longer be my doctor due to my "abusive nature" towards him and his staff. From there he wrote a letter to my Primary doctor expressing that he doubted I had multiple sclerosis that it… was in my head. He did not give me the results of either tests. I had to track them down myself. My primary doctor being as upset with dr. Ente as myself referred me to a better neurologist who scheduled multiple tests and MRI's. She was unable to say yes or no because I had more then half the markers and referred me to a multiple sclerosis specialist. Who I am now finally getting answer three years later because of this dr. Ente. He is a horrible doctor. I would never recommend him to anyone in Santa Barbara county.

My visit to Dr. Ente was pleasant and informative. He was very patient and thorough with his examination process. Diagnosis accuracy is yet to be determined, but my husband and I feel he has put us on the right track for the treatment of Aphasia.

This doc needs to retire. Extremely poor bedside manner, very sarcastic and pompous.

Difficulty getting someone to answer the telephone numbers. I think Dr. Ente would benefit taking a class on bedside manners as that left something to be desired with my interactions with him.
