Dr. Philip K Rosenthal, MD

Very disappointing in seeing this Dr. Had surgery then kicked to the curb. No meds. He has written a book on opioids. He is a one time big buck surgeon. He will not treat you after that. Don’t waste your time on this doctor. Go see a better Dr. in Bakersfield!!

This guy operated on my wife, 4 back surgeries. 1st one was to do a spinal fusion. then she got an infection and he had to open her up again. Then after that, the screws he put in broke and he had to open her up again. Then after that, she got ANOTHER infection and he had to open her up a 4th time. 4 back surgeries in 4 months. He never prescribed a single thing to deal with pain and refused to even acknowledge her pain and treated her like complete garbage. This was years ago. This man left her crippled for the rest of her life, and then fled the state. Go to him if you will, but you are rolling the dice with your life with this guy.

Dr. Rosenthal has not been able to help provide competent care for my elderly father.

Pre surgery, I was was quite happy with him. Post surgery not so much. He didnt leave an order for post surgery pain meds. It took quite a long time for the hospital staff to reach him to get it. Didnt get the ok for pain meds til after 7 that evening. I was suppose to lay flat for 24 hrs., but the drain tube came out the minute they moved me from gurney to my room bed. Bled all over the place and had to be rolled around to fix that and change the bed. So much for laying flat for 24 hrs. For the followup office visits he always mentioned he would take credit for all the good he did. Droll sense of humor. Ever since then I have had clicking sounds coming from neck area. He said it had nothing to do with what he did. I didnt make that noise before. There maybe additional problems now that tequire an MRI.

Dr. Liker was my neurosurgeon but his partner, Rosenthal, was assigned to remove my staples. He left one, which later started bleeding. After spending two hours waiting, I had to go to ER and wait longer to have it taken out and another put in.

This Doctor took me right in after suffering for Some time with neck, shoulder and arm pain. Sleeping in a chair every night for a month. When I found this Doctor, he did everything To find the problem everyone else missed! I seen him at my appointment time, he sent me For MRI, he seen the problem and wanted to do my surgery the next morning. Thank God! Thank You Doctor Rosenthal! Surgery fixed me.

He's a bit different, but he's got excellent surgical ability.

Dr. Rosenthal seems young but is not naive. He is very well educated and easy to talk to. He will even show a sense of humor without skipping a beat when you thow something out there.
