Dr. Phillip Allen Bauman, MD

Great reputation, but chaos reigns in his practice. No follow up for results on ordered tests, and after surgery he disappears. Clearly, I was not healing properly, and his indifference was most disappointing. Left him, went to HSS for care, and finally got the outcome that I needed from the beginning.

I had seen two orthopedists, an osteopath, and a PT over a period of two years - never got a clear diagnosis of my knee. Dr. Bauman took five minutes to diagnosis my knee pain as dual tears in my meniscus in my right knee and a tear in my left. Given the poor shape of the cartilage, the surgery took twice as long as usual - close to three hours. Dr. Bauman was brilliant. He is a caring, careful and expert practitioner who spends as much time as you need. And, he's a heck of nice guy. If you want service from the office staff like you do in a fast food joint, then maybe you should go someplace else. But if you want you problem cared for by the best, then take the appointment when you can get it and see Dr. Bauman.

Extraordinarily amazing in all categories. Dr. Bauman has shown me what a dedicated medical professional ought to be. I would join others I know who have been his patients in portraying Dr. Bauman in only the very best of lights, which his humbleness would probably not enjoy, but all the more true. Dr. Baumans' follow up and care through all phases of the relationship is outstanding and wonderful. Conversations with the physical therapists to taking extra office time to help his patients understand every aspect of his perspectives and care and prescriptions. In my opinion I have never been so impressed with a doctor's knowledge, insights and experience, techniques and facility, human compassion and genuineness. An incredible professional / doctor / surgeon and a wonderful Man. Highest ratings and accolades. Highest Respect and Gratitude.

Ridiculously inept staff, incredibly disorganized doctor and overall a huge disappointment, especially since he was highly recommended.

Always impossible to get an appointment but an outstanding Doctor.

Sometimes difficult to get appointments or phone call returns prior to being a patient, however, truly skilled and excellent surgeon, very caring and kind individual. Highly recommended.

He evidently thinks he's too good for some patients. Some receptionist speaks to you for about 20 seconds and then says "The doctor screens his patients. I'll pass this along and he'll get back to you." And then he doesn't get back to you. Pathetic.

Great surgeon but the wait time to see him is ridiculously long. Also, on two occasions, I had appointments in which after waiting in the waiting room between 30-60 minutes, my appointments were cancelled (Even the assistant seemed embarrassed that happened to me twice). Another occasion I was in one of the patient rooms for more than an hour because he took a more "important" client before me. My time is valuable also and I did not appreciate this discourtesy. But like I mentioned, he did an excellent job with diagnosing my issue and with the surgery. It is just the patient care in the doctor's office that is disappointing.

Charming man, good surgeon, BUT booking an appointment is very difficult, wait time was usually an hour, office seems to be in chaos/confusion and loses things, extremely poor communications about needs, MRI results always seem to be missing, so not available to discuss, no follow up unless you push for it, feel like I am invisible.

Bauman is highly skilled and I got great results from my shoulder surgery. You won't get a lot of TLC, but he's brilliant! The office is way overbooked; once I waited 2 hours to see him. It was a small crowded waiting room, and more and more people kept coming in. I sucked it up, and I'm glad I did.
