Dr. Phillip Laurence Parr, MD

Insulting and rude demeanor right from the start. Without an exam or reviewing my MRI, Dr. Parr recommended surgery. This was right after he said I did not need surgery, contradictory and negligent. The appt. Took less than 8 minutes. It's apparently ALL ABOUT THE MONEY as this was a workers comp scheduled visit. He was accompanied by rude staff and then Dr. Parr just leaves the room without a word! I sat there not knowing that the appt. ended. Two minutes later the rude female staff poked her head in the room and told me I could come out. I would not recommend to anyone to go to this facility (The Orthapedic Institute in Gainesvie, FL) or to see Dr. Parr. He is not attentive, not thorough, crass and negligent in his medical duties and time for him to retire. Patients deserve better treatment.

I remember when Dr. Parr was a kind and caring orthopedic surgeon who listened to your symptoms and answered your questions. He even took time to draw and explain medical terminology and surgical procedures. Flash forward about six to eight years and he's a changed man: rude, insulting, accusing me of trying to deceive him so that I could get some opioids or narcotics. It's sad when an excellent surgeon goes sour and treats his patients with contempt. He really needs to retire before he makes a major mistake and has a malpractice suit to deal with. I'll never go back to see him. There are kind, compassionate, professional, and caring doctors in this area that appreciate their patients. Being disrespected, insulted, or bullied by your doctor should not be tolerated.

I was not to amazed by the doctor. He is not rude however I did not appreciate his attitude towards my issues. He told me I needed to move on with life, I didn’t physical therapy too long, and his line of questioning I didn’t appreciate. He said there are 10-15 fender benders a year as to belittle my distraction. However my situation was not explained in detail for him to even now what happened. I said I was backing into a space, and he so very low impact. Actually I was backing into a space on Main Street not a parking lot, and was hit a higher rate of speed. I still have pain. He said I should have only gone to physical therapy for 3-4wks and why did I go so long. Why would I go to physical therapy for fun, I went until I was released. He ask did I have a lawyer, who it was, was I taking medicine, etc. I wasn’t there to get medicine or whatever he thought. Your office reached out to me for an appointment based on a referral from SIMED. I asked the young lady on the phone on whether I… should still come since I had been released. It wasn’t the experience I expected after waiting for 20-30min for him. Everyone else I experienced I did enjoy. I would never return to this office unless it was the last resort or if so, a different physician.

Dr Phillip Parr is a Awesome man doctor. Very kind and gets right to the point he has never misdiagnosed me ever. I just love him.

Dr. Parr was thorough, kindly, and really gave me a clear path to resolving my issues. His staff both in x-ray and assistant to doctor were knowledgeable and answered many questions. I would recommend Dr. Parr to anyone needing his services.

Just the worst

I went to Dr Parr with excruciating hip pain. Had been dismissed by several Neurologists. He xrayed and mri my hip and told me my hip was fine however he had seen this pain come from lower back. So he got me into the Ocala office next morning for an lumbar MRI. A day later Dr Parr called and informed me of a large tumor in my L3 vertebrae that was pressing on spinal cord. He coordinated appointments for oncologist's etc. And he stayed on top of things. After a biopsy was done it was diagnosed as Chordoma. A very rare cancer with only about 300 cases per year. This happened in May 2015. Had surgery to remove vertebrae and also Proton radiation in Jax. So far I'm doing OK all things considered but I feel I owe much of this to Dr Parr. He didn't just brush me off. He found the problem. In my opinion(and he proved it)experience pays in cases like mine.

Rude would be in understatement. Should be put out to pasture before he gives his whole group a bad name. On a bright sunny day he would the one cloud raining crap. And this is me being nice.

Worst doctor I have ever encountered. He fails to treat when he realizes his patients are in litigation. He told me to get on with my life. I maintained my composure and he walked out and didnt come back. Retire already!

Very rude and disrespecting. He needs to retire!! I would not take my dog to see him if he was the last medical person on earth.
