Dr. Promila Dhanuka, MD

If you value your life or your loved one’s, ask for a referral to a different doctor. Our experience with this oncologist has been nothing short of devastating. She is consistently rude, dismissive, and entirely lacking in bedside manner—a demeanor completely unacceptable when dealing with critically ill patients. She showed no empathy, no willingness to answer questions, and often acted irritated by our concerns, even when they were about urgent medical issues. Even worse, half of her staff is alarmingly incompetent. Orders weren’t sent. Critical phone calls weren’t made. As a direct result of their negligence, my mother was hospitalized for two weeks—a preventable situation had even the most basic level of professionalism or follow-through been in place. We are deeply disappointed and shaken by the lack of care, communication, and accountability from both this physician and her team. A cancer diagnosis is already traumatic. Entrusting your loved one’s life to someone who treats… you like a nuisance is beyond demoralizing—it’s dangerous. Please, for the safety of your family, seek care elsewhere. There are compassionate, competent oncologists out there. This is not one of them.

Not prepared for doctor appointments. Will drop you if you get a second opinion as she does not like to be questioned. Very impersonal and non-caring. Doesn't seem up-to-date. Told patient they were cancer free after 6 months of chemo. Told patient to come back every 3 months for blood tests to monitor the cancer. 4 months later CT scan at another hospital for a heart valve revealed a large mass. Didn't even want to discuss the mass and told patient he was "cancer free" and to return in 3 months. 8 months after last appointment with Dr. Dhanuka learned Stage IV cancer and had to be rushed into surgery. If hadn't sought medical treatment else where would be dead now. Never heard from Dr. Dhanuka or her office after last office appointment. Had Dr. Dhanuka performed the required tests as documented in medical file, cancer would have been detected and probably would not have advanced.

She took over when my oncologist retired, and i have been very impressed. She is very proactive in treatment; definitely not a "let's wait and see" plan of attack when it comes to treating my cancer.

I brought my daughter in with a iron/blood issue. She took her time and really listened to her history and explained our options. We are very happy and glad to be in the care of Dr. Dhanuka.

When I mentioned that I did not want certain medicines, she told me, "just go home a wait a couple of years" (until you die) Unbelievable. Of course, I wound up paying for her sarcastic time.

She is very hard to understand and very rude to her patients. Plus we asked her for 2 copies of a 2 page report and she told us she would not waste her ink or paper.
