Dr. Rachel Cook Gunderson, MD

I recently went to Dr. Gunderson after finding out I had some problems through an er visit. I was nervous because I have a condition that is not real common so usually doctors don't have a clue about it let alone how to treat me. She first had me leave the exam room and took us to her office to discuss my issues. That impressed me because it's a sign a doctor understands that u know your body best and will listen to you and apply their knowledge and what they see on exam to what you tell them in order to diagnose you. So when she immediately knew what my condition meant in relation to treatment options and never skipped a beat I instantly knew I had found my forever doctor. In one visit she garnered more trust from me than I have given doctors who treated me for years. I wish she could be my pcp as well!!!

I developed a Bartholin cyst recently. (If you don’t know what that is, you’ve never had one. If you’ve had one, you don’t forget it!) I had had one abscess about 25 years ago and had to have it treated as an emergency in a doctor’s office in a small (tiny, tiny) town while working out of town. It was a horrible, nightmare experience. So, I was very apprehensive when I developed a cyst. I did not have a gynecologist. (I do now!) I got a referral to Dr Gunderson from my primary care physician office, called and she could see me right away. She was very gentle and compassionate. When she heard my “nightmare” experience she was vey sympathetic and understood how traumatized I was from the previous experience. We did try the usual at home treatment to get the cyst to drain on its own. But several days of that showed it wouldn’t drain without some kind of medical intervention. She had me booked for surgery later that week. I was so relieved that I didn’t have to go through the same… procedure as before with only a local. I’m still recovering, but so glad to have found a compassionate physician to turn to for Gymocology.
