Dr. Raghu Rao Pulluru, MD

I rI recently had massive rotator cuff surgery performed by Dr. Raghu Pulluru at Manatee Memorial Hospital, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, my experience with Dr. Pulluru and the entire team was top-notch. Everyone I encountered, was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate throughout the entire process. Before the surgery, Dr. Pulluru took the time to thoroughly explain the procedure and answer all my questions and concerns. And his Nurse Practitioner, Joy Hudson, made sure I was comfortable and informed every step of the way, which helped ease my nerves. After the surgery, Dr. Pulluru and his team provided excellent follow-up care. I have started my shoulder rehab with Dan at Manatee Memorial Hospital. Dan, Tasha and the entire team at Manatee are making sure I am on track with my recovery. They are such an amazing group of therapists! I highly recommend Dr. Raghu Pulluru to anyone in need of orthopedic surgery. I was told by a… friend that Dr. Pulluru is the “shoulder whisperer”. Well, I can confidently agree with that statement. I am grateful to have had him as my surgeon. Thank you for everything!

My son tore his ACL & we got an HMO referral to Pulluru. He didn’t put time/effort into preparing my son for surgery & barely said a word at the pre-op/post-op appointments. (Although he did say my son wouldn’t play basketball again & only professional athletes who train 5 hours a day could make a comeback.) The recovery was horrible. It didn’t make sense for the recovery to be so awful for a healthy, athletic, 17 yr. old. Nine months later, my son was back in the operating room. Pulluru left the practice & we were referred to a new doctor. He explained everything in detail & professionally described how the last surgery wrecked my son’s knee. The 2nd surgery lasted over four hours. The new Dr. said it was his most difficult case & he never saw anything like it. Once the new grafts heal in 4-6 months, my son will have to endure a 3rd surgery to continue to fix the wreck Pulluru created. Based on the other poor reviews, I sincerely question the validity of the positive reviews. Beware!

2 month after my visit the office has not gotten back to me. I requested an injection for my left knee rather than a knee replacement. They said they made the request to the insurance company but did not give me any information so that I could give to the insurance company. I had talked to Humana but they had no request on file.

The secretary is rude, and attacking. Dr. Pulluru wrote my prescription incorrectly then shut off communication saying he was going on vacation next week so he can't see me anymore or refill my medication? Then the covering Dr. filled my medication because I was having muscle spasms (Soma) and he ok'd it then their office blocked the fill. The stress alone dealing with Dr. RP and his staff left my condition worse than how it was going into his office. If you want an honest Dr. and a friendly staff I do not recommend Dr. "RP". Get the treatment you deserve and do not let doctors prioritize their license over your health.

Just saw him today about knees, back, etc. Gave me detailed explanation of all, very thorough. Not rushed at all. Need further treatment, etc. But I was treated like an intelligent patient, and he was very kind. The woman who checked be in before he came in, too, was very nice.

Went to him twice for pain in knee's. Was told it was my patella and arthritis. I explained that I have had patella problems for many, years and this pain was different. Just ordered physical therapy and did not want to authorize an MRI but I finally talked him into ordering it. Found a tear in my meniscus and said to contact him if I have more pain. Physical therapy has done nothing but aggravate the pain and make it worse. Nothing against the therapist, she is good. Emailed him and it took days for him to respond with a one line answer. Would have thought that 'maybe' he would explain the MRI to me and why he thinks that physical therapy would help a tear. No communication from him at all. No bedside manner AT ALL.

I felt he knew what he was doing, but he is all business and lacks empathy. Poor bedside manner.

Just like previous posts, he knows his stuff, but doesn't care about the person. I was left regretting surgery, and he made me feel stupid for asking questions.

He is a wonderful doctor! He took his time to carefully explain what was going on with me and how we would treat the pain I was having. Would recommend him to everyone!
