Horrible. I went in to his Urgent Care facility in Boulder for a Strep Test. He looked at me and said he didn't think I had strep. Then, I got a bill in the mail for $120 for a lab that he sent the culture to. This is in addition to $185 for his consultation and another $30 lab fee. Everyone he works with--billing office, patient advocate, reception--sites protocol and fine print. How is a $185 office visit justified if all he can offer is protocol and fine print? Where is the professional judgement that comes with earning that type of money? How can a person or an insurance company pay over $300 for a strep consult when the doctor knows she doesn't have strep? This is a source of the problem with sky rocketing medical costs: people like Dr. Sato and his associates doing their jobs with their eyes closed. Where does the buck stop? Why did he become a doctor if he is going to hide behind fine print and protocol? The mandate of the profession is to help patients, not screw them.
