Dr.Raouf Hallis my Doctor for over 30 years.He is WONDERFUL as well as his staff !!!!

He is very knowledgeable , caring, treats me and my family not just patients but family. Spends extra time and follow up after visit especially if something is unusual with test results even on a weekend.

I don't write many reviews and when I do, they are positive reviews. However, this is a negative review. I feel negative reviews often reflect the negative personality of the author. With that said, I will only list the facts. I recently received an eight month contract of employment for a popular cruise line. I had less than a month (26 days, to be exact) to tie up all personal "loose ends", along with taking a physical exam to be cleared for employment by the cruise line. I also put aside a week [Day 19-24] to see family, knowing that I would not see them for eight months. I did not have medical coverage at the time, so I went online to find a doctor. I saw Dr. Hallis' profile listed with 'UCLA' and '20-something years of practice'. I made an appointment for [Day 6] of my "transition period". Upon arrival at his office, I filled out the necessary paperwork and made a point to inform the clerk that I was there to take a physical exam for employment and that the forms that I… provided needed to be submitted by the due date [Day 12]. I also added that I would be paying 'out of pocket' for the day's services. Doctor Hallis entered the room to begin the exam. We discussed what I needed and he confided that he would only execute the exam requirements, in order to save me money. The exam was fast and when finished, he sent me to the radiologist to perform the required chest X-ray. On the way out of the office, I restated the importance of submitting the results of the exam to my future employer and provided the fax number to send the forms. [Day 12] arrives and I call the management office of the cruise line to see if the the medical exam results/forms had been submitted. They said 'no'. I immediately called the doctors office to inquire about sending my exam results to the management office. Their response was, "we need you to redo your chest X-ray." They couldn't take me that day and the doctor was taking the following day off. I made the next available appointment two days later [Day 14]. I went back to radiology office on [Day 14] to redo the chest X-ray. When it was over I went back to the Doctors office to make sure they would send the results to my management's office. While driving home, the doctor's office called me back to do a THIRD chest X-ray. I turned around and did the X-ray again. While I was there, I asked ask why the forms had not been submitted. Their answer was, "we're not allowed to fax exam results. We can only give them to you in person." I asked to speak to the doctor but he had already left for the day (1:45 pm). The clerk told me she would have the doctor call me the next day. [Day 15] I call Dr. Hallis' office to talk about the chest X-ray results. After having called the office twice already, Dr. Hallis calls me before he leave his office for the day. He tells me that the chest X-ray is negative and I am "in good health". Ten seconds after hanging up the phone, Dr. Hallis calls me back. He asks me "How much do I drink (alcohol)?" I tell him how much I drink and he proceeds to tell me, "Maybe I shouldn't drink so much." [Day 16] I go to Dr. Hallis' office. The clerk there gives the exam results to me and I fax them to the management office. When I called to see if the management office received the forms they said they had, however the urinalysis report was "unacceptable". When I asked why, they said it had insufficient information on it. By the time I called the doctor's office it was too late to get a revised urinalysis report. I told them I would be there first thing monday morning. After the weekend passed and having changed the flight to see my family a day later, I went back to the doctor's office [Day 18] to get the urinalysis report. When the clerk gave the report to me, I saw that it was the exact same report that I sent three days earlier. I sent the report to the management office explaining that this was the correct report, according to my doctor. They still would not accept the report. [Sidenote: I ended up going to a occupational health center, in the city where my brother lives, to get another urinalysis. Those results and forms were accepted by my current employer.] Bottom line: $350 = 5 visits = no exam results = no contract of employment.

I made an appt to get the flu shot for the season and an additional appt to talk about a shot for travel. I waited an hour to see the Dr and when I finally saw him he had a print out of travel immunizations (which that consultation is $110 not covered by insurance). This was the biggest waste of $. I went in specifically to talk about the polio shot bc the Center of Disease and Control has recommended a booster for China travel. He didn't know anything about it and said not to get it, which could have been told to me on the phone. I then waited 40 min to see the nurse for the flu shot bc he never put the light on. I was quoted $30 for the flu shot and the form I filled out said $30. When I went to pay a woman named Sonia gave me my bill and could NOT have been more rude. The Dr told me before I went to pay that I'd get a discount for the travel consultation, so I asked her about it. She snapped at me and said "ITS ON THERE." Then she said my total was $197. I asked her to… break it down and she said my flu shot was $100. After I had wasted almost 2 hours of my morning, got zero guidance from the Dr and now being overcharged I was upset. I said that wasn't what I was quoted and she said bc I was traveling it was $100. I tried to explain how I was getting teh flu shot regardless and it should be $30. She then literally yelled at me to STOP and said rudely I'll give it to you for 30. I walked out of there knowing I will never go back. For what we pay for insurance, health care, and the will to be in good hands you should NEVER be treated like this as a customer.

The doctor spent most of the appointment babbling. He suggested that I come back a few more times for tests. The reason I made the appointment was to at least get tests run or at best get a diagnosis. The appointment was a complete waste of my time and money.

On a visit for a pap smear, at age 28, to Dr. Hallis in 1993, I asked for venerial disease screenings because I was sexually active. His response was that because I had only one boyfriend, I did not need to be tested for venerial diseases at my Pap smear appointment. I had an abnormal pap test at that appointment, but Dr. Hallis never informed me about it. In fact, his office told me it was normal shortly after I had the pap test. I discovered the truth several months later in 1994 after I had been diagnosed with cervical cancer, and had a hysterectomy, and received radiation treatment. My radiologist assisted me in obtaining the lab results of the abnormal pap results from Dr. Hallis's office. Dr. Hallis claimed it was the lab's fault that I was not informed of the abnormal results; however, the results were in writng in my file at his office. It was difficult for me to finally obtain the lab report from Dr. Hallis. Only after my radiologist assisted me was I able to fianlly… take possession of the report from Dr. Hallis's office.
