Dr. Raymond Gerard Decker, MD

I have been going to Dr. Decker for about 10 years now, he is rude, arrogant and shows little or no concern. I just had an appointment last week for 4:45 I arrived at 4:15 after coming from work in Henrico County. I was seen an hour later (there were only 3 people in the waiting room and they were called before me. He walked in did not speak and asked me why I was there. A month prior I brought information from my cardiologist who said I needed blood work. He told me I will schedule it so you wont have to come back to the office. I called Lab Corps no referral. To add to his rude approach; this time last year I weighed 300lbs. I now weigh 232lbs, he came in the office and said "You need to lose more weight your body mass index is too high, no good job keep up the good work. Needless to say I am in search of a new doctor but I cannot change until I get my blood work done.

I started seeing Dr. Decker and no other doctor back in 2018 unfortunately I had some really bad experiences with my previous doctors. It felt so good to have a doctor who actually cared about me. I’m so happy to have a good doctor now

Dr. Decker is so busy that I waited in the office about 1 hour. When he finally come to see me, he rushed and did not take time to listen my concern. He needs to improve patient schedule better.

This man was in charge of the nurse practitioners. His name was on my record and the insurance company charged more. When the nurse practitioner left the practice, he dismissed all of her patients who were receiving any Scheduled prescription medication. I had been told by the nurse practitioner I would have no trouble getting treatment from any provider at the practice as I had always followed my treatment plan, never misused any medication, and was always cooperative. Dr. Decker without knowing my condition, treatment, or history (including seeing specialists) dismissed me from the practice without ever speaking to me. All medical sources indicate abrupt cessation can result in seizures and death. I have already had one seizure and have yet to find another physician. Dr. Decker's actions amounted to negligence, harm, and patient abandonment.

I moved to the area in 2003 and needed a primary care doctor and found his practice it was close to the house. I've never had an issue with the service or visits other than the wait at times. They moved offices further away and I have moved further and further away over the 16 years and i still drive the distance to go to doctor visits.

He is rude, arrogant and ignorant.

Dr. Decker is great however when calling and leaving a message you do not get response, tried using the patient portal nothing either and it has been over 24 hours. I blame the staff and not Dr.Decker

Doctor Decker is a very dedicated, compassionate doctor. He works long hours to make sure his patients and other patients are taken care of. He has the best nursing staff that is by your side from the time you walk into his office. If you question anything that made not please you he will sit down and discuss this with you in a proper manner. I highly recommend Doctor Decker to anyone.

I like that he will be direct and factual in his diagnoses, yet take the time to explain things to me - sometimes in technical detail - when I feel uncomfortable with something. He embraces new technology, but does not let that drive how he interacts with me. The office is much farther from where I live than it used to be, but the staff are so friendly and helpful and I have almost no problems getting an appointment, that I do not want to go anywhere else. I have seen other doctors at the practice when Dr. Decker is not available, and they are all great doctors (and nurse practitioners) , though they all have their own approaches to how they interact with patients. I prefer to see Dr. Decker, but sometimes I need to see someone TODAY - and they have always come through for me.
