Dr. Raymond Scott Douglas, MD

Be cautious of Raymond Douglas. I spent $15,500 and risked everything, only to feel disfigured. I underwent orbital decompression and eyelid surgery to restore symmetry and a natural appearance. Instead, he removed skin and narrowed my eyelids, leaving visible scars despite promising a “scarless” result. I repeatedly emphasized removing fat, yet he removed bone without warning me of its impact on my inter-pupillary distance, which increased from 65mm to 68.5mm—a significant and concerning change. He falsely claimed no post-surgery change in IPD, despite not even measuring it afterward. Follow-up appointments revealed shifting narratives: initially, revision risks were “the same,” then scar tissue increased complications, and later, blindness became the “greatest risk.” A year later, I still suffer from numbness and sharp pain. Negative reviews, including mine, mysteriously disappear on other platform, and I received warning letters after posting. Be skeptical of glowing reviews.… This is my honest experience. Stay cautious.

Because of the incorrect information provided by Raymond Douglas before the surgery, I made the wrong decision. He did mention the risk but also provide wrong information about the result. After the surgery, he still didn't acknowledge some information about what he said was wrong , and during post-operative consultations, his explanations varied. Don't naively believe that a doctor with mostly positive reviews is necessarily a good person, because he probably has other patients who might have had negative experiences but are hesitant to leave bad reviews due to potential legal risks (something happened which makes me very careful to use words, but I am not going to keep quiet). Objectively, he may have certain skills and credentials(Maybe? I don't know), but his attitude towards patients is not right, which may not result in good outcomes for you. If you decide to see him, make sure to scrutinize his statements carefully and verify them from multiple sources. This is my best attempt… to give you objective advice based on my personal experience. And I am telling you having this doctor perform my surgery is the decision I regret the most in my life.

I have thyroid eye disease and am in need of a decompression surgery. Due to the disease, my left eye and left side of my face is much bigger than the right side. I went to a consultation with Dr. Raymond Douglas. He seemed wise, respectful and patient. We discussed having a decompression surgery. He also stated that I will benefit from a fat transfer to my upper cheeks and buccal fat removal. I understand why he would say that. But when I saw some of his before and after pictures, the women looked better, more real and younger before the fat transfer to the upper cheeks. I honestly didn't see any difference in the before/after pictures of the buccal fat removal and actually did notice an unwanted indent probably due to the loss of fat. Although Dr. Douglas may be great researcher, I don't recommend him as a surgeon. He did not discuss any potential risks of the fat transfer and buccal fat removal. I have heard that fat transfers are very unpredictable and can lead to nerve problems.… Due to the lack of thorough details, I don't recommend Dr. Douglas to others.

Saw Dr Douglas for TED. Recommended surgery and charged 17000 dollars. DOES NOT ACCEPT INSURANCE. Rude office staff. Dr told me it would be an outpatient operation. I was hospitalized for days. Told me I wouldn’t experience double vision-I DID. Told me I wouldn’t need eye muscle surgery- I DO. Told me it would relieve my symptoms, IT DID NOT. I now have a crossed eye. I never had this before. Went to see him post operation and he didn’t even examine me. Just told me I would need to be tepezza, which, conveniently, he researched. He now defers me to his office manager. Horrible surgeon. Unless you want a face lift I guess, DO NOT GO TO HIM.

Dr. Raymond did surgery on my left eye . my eye is worst that what it was after the surgery my eye drop down to my bottom eye lid and eye sight is only 10% I was able to see before, the problem was the muscle was not moving. now I can not see my eye is still close and blind .After six months he gave me up, without fixing my eye . He told my Primary Dr. he had nothing else to do with me. I am left blind my top eye lid is droopy So sad he made no effort to fix my eye. unsatisfied patient.

I met Dr. Douglas a few years ago and he is a doctor who listens, understands and most of all cares! He not only helped me navigate thru Graves disease and other eye problems but has remained my"go to " doctor with additional eye problems.. To have him as a doctor is to be truly blessed.

My wife having Graves Decease has had a really Vd experience in Miami in the best Eye Institution for the area.. She had a ptosis done in her left eye and the results was a dropping eye lid. She went back to complain and the doctor recommended dropping the other eye lid to match. Incredible he wanted to change one bad procedures into two. So after that she went to the Internet and God directed her to Doctor Douglas. We met him on Skype and the experience was a blessing. Right away my wife and I knew that we had found the best man to do her Decompression surgery. Dr.Douglas just put you at ease and his confidence and his abilities where you knew everything was going to be alright again. Being from out of state we were told that our insurance was not going to cover. My wife after finding her miracle worker was shot down but Dr. Douglas's staff was immediately on the job finding a way where this surgery would get done. Likewise the Doctor's staff gave you the same assurance you felt when… you met the Doctor. Long story short everything worked out we were covered and on our way to the promised land. Having the best Doctor in his field and supported by a great staff we felt that there was no way anything could go wrong. The surgery was a great success and the results was seen one hour after in recovery. One day after her eyes were six millimeters back in their normal position. My wife is so happy and I am so blessed to see her back to being happy and her old self again.

Dr. Raymond Douglas is the smartest dr I have ever encountered. Patient and kind. Great listener.. I knew my eye surgery was in good hands!!!

I had Thyroid Eye Disease for many years and what was worse was that it started at the prime time of my life. I felt like a caged bird whose life became a standstill. I consulted several orbital decompression doctors and was about to lose all hope until I met Dr. Raymond Douglas. I am a good people reader and am a tough critic when it comes to doctors but when I met Dr. Douglas, I went in happy shock and after the consult, I cried all the way home with happy tears. He is the smartest doctor that I have ever met. He has the best bedside manner, a great listener, sweet, gentle, respectful, just a real person who is so humble and an all around good person! What I also love about this doctor is that he listens to his patients and makes a customized plan based on individual needs. I finally felt that a doctor actually heard me so I was no longer alone in this disease. He is also very easy to reach with any questions/concerns that you may have. He is easier to reach than my own mother. Dr.… Douglas changed my life and now I can feel pretty again, a feeling that I had long lost and forgotten. He will always be in my prayers. Thanks Doc!
