Dr. Regina Resta, MD

I can't believe the older reviewers saw the same Dr. Resta. She is absolutely amazing and would trust her with anyone I love. She was right on point with my grandfather's diagnosis. She gave us more time with him than anyone expected and was compassionate and understanding right to the end. At our first visit she spent over an hour and a half with us explaining so many options. Then when we still had more questions in the next couple of days, she was so understanding. Her staff was wonderful to our family, dealing with all our families calls and questions. The chemotherapy was hard, and this was could be expected as was explained to us in the chemo class by her staff. He trudged through it though and we had over a year of of reprieve before he relapsed. She helped us yet again though to no avail. She is a wonderful, caring, supremely knowledgeable doctor. My family and I highly recommend!

I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. Pathology report stated 1/3 nodes positive; EP+. Referred to Regina Resta for chemo treatments and upon my first visit and, after asking about the percentage of treatments in my favor, she said 50/50. I expressed my concern about the effects of chemo and that I have never taken so much as a aspirin over the years. I was assured that I would be fine. What first annoyed me about her was the fact that I had been out of work for a period of time, recovering from a mastectomy and hysterectomy, and she never called to see me prior to my return to work. Giving her the benefit of doubt, I had a port put in for this hideous treatment. A family member attended my first appointment; I was weighed with heavy boots on and told, don't worry, you will be fine. The pre-meds were first injected and then the poisons, all within only 2.5 hours. Resta never once checked on me, the nurses knew my first chief complaints were heavy feelings in my legs and a… haze-like feeling in my head. The nurse told me that with the steroids I would be full of energy, just the opposite, I could not get myself out of my chair once home. A few hours after the infusion, I was rolled into a ball in bed, my intestines felt like they were turned inside out. I called the doctor that evening and she said, it was my first day and just relax. I had a friend drive me the next day for my fluids and cell shot; I could not walk by myself nor drive. I was then sick with every side effect possible for 8 days! Not once did Resta call to see how I was, even after seeing me on the 2nd day, after the infusion. I was unable to take the treatments at which point she said that we could try another treatment but I would have to take oral steroids. After trying the steroids and having a heart rate well above normal, she told me we could not continue. She then suggested anti-hormonal medications for which I had an immediate reaction. Her staff, although friendly, are for the most part incompetent. One thought I was receiving chemo to shrink my tumor, I had no breast! Another staff member, a nurse, thought I was trying the anti-hormonal meds due to having my ovaries!! The staff does not review the patients charts and Resta does not take the time to REALLY listen to the patient. They attempted to bill my insurance company over $14,000 for the first infusion and once they hear that a patient is not comfortable with what is going on, you are no longer a priority to them. Their office assured me that my co-pays would be taken care of and yet, I have received a number of invoices. If you are seeking an oncologist, do your homework and if you do not have one that puts you before the diagnosis, move on. I was a step away from being put in the hospital so, you have ask yourself, are you being given the correct treatments or, is it about the money? In my humble opinion, Resta treats all breast cancer patients the same and not on an individual basis. You only have this 1 life, do research and ask questions and when you are not on the same page as your doctor, fire them. A 50/50 chance is not good enough for me and so, I am seeking a new oncologist. Stay away!!!!

Dr. Regina Resta should lose her license to practice medicine. She is misinformed and incompetent, to say the least. Her explanation of the illness was less than poor. Honestly I had a physical reaction to hearing her speak to my father about his illness and her reactions to his concerns. Stay away from her. she was never available and had a terrible attitude but most importantly missed major signals of his illness that any competent doctor would have seen. I'm not speaking from emotion, I brought my father to Memorial sloan and the doctors there were dumbfounded by what she missed. She is aweful and her temprement and ability to speak clearly and concisely is at a highschool level. stay away.
