Dr. Rene Alberto Castillo, MD

I had a pre- cancerous cells lumpectomy and was referred to Dr Rene Castillo for a consultation, afterwards, to check if I need further treatment and what were my options. He charges $700 to "try" really hard to sell me some kind of treatment, that I don't really need, and to refer me to a radiologist. This industry is a money machine!!! I felt like I wasn't in a clinic, but in a used car sales lot. They should at least warn you about the extremely high price for a simple consultation, before sending you this outrageous bill. I tried to dispute the charge, but didn't get anywhere. It taught me a lesson: never set an appointment before asking how much it will be. I won't be seeing Dr Castillo ever again!

I rate Dr. Castillo a Five Star, because that is the highest star level I can give him. I started seeing Dr. Castillo around 2008, when the physician I was seeing at Texas Oncology, had retired. I was apprehensive at the onset, but was soon releaved to finally meet D. Castillo and start working with him. He was very thorough and explained everything in a way I understood and could tell he cared about my health. I was seeing Dr. Castillo for an ongoing blood clotting issue. I have to have blood work done each and every time I go for a visit with Dr. Castillo. He tells me how my organ funtioning is going, according to the results of my bloodwork. On one visit he told me I neded to follow up with my Primary Care Physician (PCP), as it appeared I had a high sugar content in my bloodwork. Before I could even call my PCP to schedule an appointment, his office called me and told me to come in for a "fasting" bllod check and an office visit. I went in and my bloodwork showed to have a… sugar count over 300 and an A1C over 8. I thank God everyday that Dr. Castillo cared enough about his patients to look at everything when treating them. I now see an Endocrinologist for my Diabetes and my sugar is usually between 115 - 120 and my A1C is 6.1 - most recently. There is no telling how much damage could have been done to my organs if Dr. Castillo had not been diligent in his treatment of my condition. Thank you Dr. Castillo and as always, I look forward to my next visit with you.

I was, at first, apprehensive, until I met Dr. Castillo and started seeing him on a regular basis for an ongoing blood clotting issue. I found him to be very thorough and personable. I would have to have blood work done, prior to each visit and Dr. Castillo would tell me what the results were and how my organs were functioning. On one such visit Dr. Castillo advised me that I needed to go to my Primary Care Physician as soon as possible, as he had detected a high level of sugar in my system, meaning possible Diabetes. I went to my PCP, after they had called me for an apointment based on what Dr. Castillo had advised him. I went in and they conducted a fasting blood test. My sugar was over 300 and my A1C was over 7. Ithank God everyday that Dr. Castillo was diligent and took great care of me because he cared about my health. He could have turned a blind eye to… what he detected in my blood work and left it up to my PCP to detect and care for. I now see an Endocrinologist who has my blood sugar usually at 115 - 120, and my A1C at 6.3. Dr. Castillo is a Rock Star and I enjoy each and every time I see him due to my condition. I give him a rating of five because that is as high as I can rate him.
