Although the two excellent doctors I saw at this practice quite literally saved my life, Unfortunately my review is one star due to ongoing issues with the billing department. I’m on Medicare with a Part G supplemental policy, which means that after my annual deductible (around $232), I should have no out-of-pocket costs—what Medicare doesn’t cover, my supplemental insurance does. Over the course of my care—including ultrasound, CT scan, PET scan, biopsy, and a 10-day hospital stay totaling nearly $500,000—I had zero billing issues with any provider except this one. My GI doctor, ARA, primary care physician, St. David’s Medical Center, and multiple specialists all billed correctly with no problems. Nearly a year later, this practice billed me about $18. After spending significant time on the phone with them, Medicare, and my supplemental insurer, that amount was revised to about $14—which I ultimately paid out of frustration after hours of back-and-forth. Now I’ve received a new… bill for $640 (from March 2025). When I called, I was given unclear explanations about “co-insurance” and told to contact my supplemental insurance company—but the bill itself is difficult to interpret and includes vague line items like “Adjustment SEQUESTRATION W/0,” with no meaningful explanation. At this point, I’ve lost confidence in the billing process. I'm filing complaints with the Texas Department of Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau. There’s only so much time and energy a patient should have to spend trying to resolve what appears to be a billing issue.
