Dr. Reuben Leroy Sutter, MD

Dr. Sutter is the finest Psychiatrist there is! For over 40 years I had been seen by several psychiatrists on the East coast. During those years I was put on medication to treat depression then if I had a bad reaction I’d be given additional drugs to treat the side effects. I was misdiagnosed as well. Dr.’s don’t often listen to you. They can be quite condescending . Fortunately I left the East coast & moved to N.M. to be with family. I Went to see Dr.Sutter at Sage Neuroscience. We talked a lot & he actually listened. He wasn’t condescending. He was kind, caring & it came across loud & clear that I found the right Dr. He made several changes with my meds. If there was an issue with a medication, we’d review it & make changes if necessary. It was a joint effort. Dr. Sutter spends time talking listening. Dr.’s need to learn from him.!

He is very uncomfortable with women and seems very distracted. Staff does not appear happy. Also my EOB showed they charged my insurance for things that were not done.

Just not a good experience.

A doctor who spends more time with his birds than his patients. A very weird dude.

All about the money. Also doesn't seem to treat staff that well.

Arrogant and over-confident.

I am very grateful that I was referred to Dr. Sutter through my insurance. I have been ill for many years, and the treatment that he has provided and still provides for me has helped me tremendously. Obviously I think he is technically a good doctor. ALSO, he is kind and listens very well, understood what I was trying to say when it was difficult for me to explain.

I went to this Dr. For help from my abusive husband. He didn't care that he was keeping my meds from me. Told me to take it up with him! Also husband started to see him too, told Ruben that I was non complianced to my meds! So this Dr believed the abuser! Don't go to him!

Dr. Sutter diagnosed my Complex-PTSD, after I had been badly misdiagnosed, and mistreated, by other doctors, beginning in the late 1960s, when Post Traumatic Stress Disorder was unknown. Dr. Sutter recommended a life-changing book to me, "Trauma and Recovery," by the brilliant Harvard Clinical Psycholgist Judith Herman, MD. I've read that book several times, it has helped me to make sense out of my crazy life. When I first started seeing Dr. Sutter, and his wife Lisa for counseling, I lived only a few miles away from their office in Albuquerque. I now live almost 200 miles away, but I haven't been able to find anyone out here with their insight and compassion, so I will continue to see Dr. Sutter when I am able to get to Albuquerque - he's well worth the drive.

Very Self absorbed- thinks he is always right- no one can tell him anything he doesn't already know- bedside manner is terrible
