Dr. Revathi R Iyengar, MD

I was sent to see Dr. Lyengar by the VA, as I have been a Myasthenia Gravis (MG) patient since 1997 and was successively treated for my MG by taking 3 tabs of Azathioprine 50 mg per day without any problems. Then I saw Dr. Lyengar, and she tells me to stop taking the three tabs and go to two (2) tabs per day and writes an Rx for that amount. In 1997 it took ten (10) months for the neurologists to find the PROPER dosage I needed of Azathioprine, and I have had NO problems with my MG since then with three tabs per day. So I thought that Dr. Lyengar knew what she was doing, and I went to two tabs per day. Two months into the treatment, I started tired all the time, was very easily fatigued, having problems swallowing, and then my left eye started going outward, and if continued, would lead to double vision. It was then I realized that these problems I am having were from MG, caused by a low dosage of Azathioprine. I then started taking three tabs per day and called Dr. Lyengar, but could… NOT get her, so I left several messages telling her that two tabs per day was making my MG come back and I had to go back to three tabs. BUT she would NOT answer my calls nor call me back. So I am NOW almost out of all the meds and the VA will not give me a new Rx till Dr. Lyengar calls them with the Rx, an she is NOT calling me back.

When I saw Dr. Iyengar it was after I had been scheduled to see Dr. Sadek for months. The office staff is terribly rude and poorly organized; they tried to pawn you off onto a nurse practitioner; and the worst part was that Dr. Iyegar, whom I had never seen, tried to convince me that my epilepsy cocktail was too much medicine. I have been on this medicine for over ten years. It has been triple-checked by many doctors in several states. I’m steering clear of this entire office. And I remain unconvinced that Dr. Sadek even exists!

I was sent to Dr. Iyengar's office by my insurance. The medical attention and medical tests performed by Dr. Iyengar and Dr. Sadek were fine. However, their office and billing staff seem to lack the respect of patients needs. The first few visits, I was billed by the medical office as OUT-OF NETWORK. After 6 months of phone calls, emails, etc.. I finally was told that I would be billed in network. But they wouldn't refund my previous OUT-of-NETWORK payments. I made another appointment to see Dr. Iyengar in regards to new medication and was called three days prior to the appt. and they cancelled due to her "Heavy Schedule" She had a "conference or meeting" in the morning, another "conference or meeting" in the afternoon and my appt. in between both. Her secretary called to cancel and reschedule. Her secretary kept explaining that her schedule was very "Tight" and difficult for her. Unfortunately, she doesn't understand patient care. I had waited 5 weeks for that appointment. I can't… waste time trying to fight for appointments or deal with insurance coverage due to improperly coding billing information. This Neurology Practice is not about patient care and needs.
