Dr. Richard Vance Barnes, MD

Dr. Richard Barnes at the Center4Stress Reduction is the first Psychiatrist that I have actually ever trusted and believes he really cares! He has helped me so much during some of the toughest times of my life. From losing Loved ones, Anxiety, Panic Attacks and Depression. I had seen many Psychiatrists before him and all they did was push really odd drugs while an appointment would last 5-10 minutes max. Dr. Barnes not only treats with Medications if you need them. Though does not push them on you. The perfect balance in my opinion. My appointments with him have lasted anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. The entire staff there are wonderful as well. His schedule can be quite busy, but that is only because he is so good at what he does. So even though I have to wait a little bit longer for an appointment it does not matter to me. I would rather wait a bit longer to see a truly great Psychiatrist. Then to get in right away to one that does not have my best interest in mind. So happy I… finally found an amazing Psychiatrist!

Kind, compassionate, smart and calming

Called to make an appointment and was grilled about my drug and alcohol use even before they asked my name. The doctor wouldn't see me because I had a psychiatric hospitalization within the last year. Seems like he only wants to see easy patients.

I am so grateful for having found Dr. Barnes, he helped me through a most difficult time and gave me insight, direction and strength instead of a yawn and a prescription.

How he can even tell I won't be a right fit without meeting me is a mystery. And the staff I spoke had a snotty attitude and were generally rude.

Dr Barnes is more interested in propegating his technique rather than actually treating the patient and finding common ground. I do not know if psychiatrists take the hypocratic oath but if so Dr. Barnes has traded his oath for arrogance.

Doctor Barnes is by far the best psychiatrist I have ever encountered and I have been through a lot as I came upon many who just wanted to throw medication at you without knowing the full picture, the ones that wanted to over medicate, and the ones who looked as you as a paycheck, problem, or inanimate puzzle that needs to be solved with the right combo of drugs. Doctor Barnes does not see the problem, the diagnosis or the possibility of a paycheck. He sees a person in front of him and wants to help that person live a stable, successful, happy and productive life. He does not immediately jump to use medications, he looks at many forms of alternative treatment. I genuinely look forward to my visits with him even if it's just because he is just a good guy to be around and his positive and caring nature eminate from him and you can't help but feel even just a little bit better. This center will treat you with respect, and you can assure your well being comes first. He has changed my life… for the better and I continue to be in shock at how much growth I've had in one year and how I am continuing to grow and be more successful and happy each day. I can walk through anything that comes at me now because Dr. Barnes has helped me create a foundation to rest on in times of turmoil
