Dr. Richard Catoe Bumgardner, MD

Dr. Richard bumgarner has been my doctor for years when I was a police chief and now that I'm retired I still continue to go see him. He's very professional, very polite as well as knowledgeable. His staff is caring and do a lot of follow-ups after your visits, to check to make sure everything is okay. A lot of my senior citizens in town of Northwest also goes to see him and in the surrounding areas as well. I would definitely recommend this doctor. Before my wife died she had sickle sale. and whenever she was really hurting although he was not her doctor he would also see her and make recommendations.

We found him arrogant and disengaged. We had just moved to the area and wanted to give it more than 1 or 2 visits. He knew my husbands history of being a diabetic. My husband went to see him on a Monday and advised that his blood pressure had been very high. He explained the pain he was having that was pressure around the back of his neck, and tightness in his throat. Shortness of breath while exercising. The dr sent him to Walmart to get Flonase. This is supposed to be an experienced dr who has a diabetic patient presenting with pain in the back of the head and neck and shortness of breath with very high blood pressure for over a week. Experienced doctors know that diabetic patients do not have typical symptoms of chest or arm pain. We ended up at the ER that night and thank God we did. My husband had already had a heart attack. He ended up with a quadruple plus bypass. He blew my husband off and didn’t listen or care enough to dig deeper. He rushed him through and told him to get… Flonase. Terrible doctor and when I called his office to let them know we wouldn’t be returning, he never even called to discuss it with us. Crappy doctor and not a great human either.

Have been a patient of Dr. Bumgardner for 17 years. Very satisfied with results. He is thorough, explains options and makes sure you understand.

I had, I guess, a small problem, but had no trouble getting the staf to schedule an appointment that day. Had a blood test at NHRMC and got a call that morning from Dr. B's office explaining what the results meant and reassuring me that it could be taken care of. The cardiologist has yet to call.

Love going to the office! Everyone is so nice and understanding! Dr. Bumgardner acts like he truly cares and listens. Most of all, he does not hand out Pain Medication to every and anyone that walks in his office! I think that speaks highly of him. There are too many out there already that are in it JUST for the money and these people(patients) get addicted to medications they don't need! I would highly recommend them as your Doctor!!!!
